RECAP: Hitmen Fall To Oil Kings in Final Regular Season Game
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen closed out the 2025-26 regular season in Edmonton on Sunday, falling 7-1 to the Oil Kings.
Edmonton opened the scoring in the first five minutes with a goal from Aaron Obobaifo, followed by a power-play marker from Ethan MacKenzie. Lukas Sawchyn added another in the second period to extend the lead. In the third, Obobaifo netted his second of the game, with additional goals from Cole Landreville and Adam Jecho pushing the score to 6-0.
Calgary finally got on the board in the final ten minutes, with Andrei Molgachev scoring his 27th goal of the season. Dylan Dean rounded out the scoring with Edmonton’s seventh goal in the final two minutes.
The Hitmen are playoff bound for the second consecutive season and will open the 2026 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien with two straight home games. Their best-of-seven series against the Brandon Wheat Kings settles into Scotiabank Saddledome for dates on Friday, Mar. 27 and Sunday, Mar. 29.
