RECAP: Hitmen Extend Win Streak to Five Games in Thrilling OT Victory Over Raiders
Prince Albert, SK – The Calgary Hitmen extended their win streak to five games on Halloween night, kicking off their six-game road trip with a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory at the Art Hauser Centre.
Prince Albert opened the scoring five minutes into the first period with a goal from Max Heise. A crucial 5-on-3 penalty kill at the midway point of the frame kept Calgary within one heading into the intermission. The Raiders added another in the second period to extend their lead to two, but Ethan Moore got the Hitmen on the board cutting the deficit to one. The goal also extended Moore’s point streak to a team-leading seven games.
The third period remained scoreless until the dying seconds. With goaltender Eric Tu on the bench for the extra attacker, Caine Wilke played hero, burying the equalizer with just 9.5 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
Just 37 seconds into the extra frame, Kale Dach sealed the win, finishing a perfect 2-on-1 pass from Brandon Gorzynski to complete the comeback.
Eric Tu was stellar between the pipes, stopping 30 shots to secure the win. With the victory, Calgary improves to 9-3-1-0 and has now collected points in six straight games.
