RECAP: Hitmen Come Up Short in 4-3 Loss to Rebels
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen closed out the month of November welcoming the Red Deer Rebels to the Scotiabank Saddledome this afternoon. The Hitmen fell in a tight matchup, 4-3.
Red Deer came out strong, striking three times in the opening ten minutes. Matthew Gard opened the scoring, with Aleksey Chichkin and Beckett Hamilton each adding a marker.
Kale Dach finally put Calgary on the board, finishing off a rush with support from Brandon Gorzynski and Landon Amrhein. Less than a minute later on the Hitmen powerplay, the Rebels covered the puck in their crease, awarding the Hitmen a penalty shot. Andrei Molgachev made no mistake, sliding it five-hole on Matthew Kondro to pull Calgary within one.

Red Deer restored their two-goal lead at the beginning of the third period on a tally from Landon McSwain to make it 4-2. The Hitmen mounted a final push in the dying minute, with Dach burying his 12th of the season with 36 seconds remaining. Despite the late surge, Calgary couldn’t complete the comeback falling 4-3.
Calgary now has a full four-day break before they cap their four-game homestand with a visit from the East Division leading Prince Albert Raiders on Friday, Dec. 5. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome. The Hitmen will then head to Lethbridge the following day for a matchup with the Hurricanes on Saturday, Dec. 6. at 6:00 p.m. before returning to the Saddledome for the Teddy Bear Toss powered by ENMAX on Dec. 7 at 4:00 p.m.
