RECAP: Hitmen Close out Season Series with Tigers with 8-3 Loss
Medicine Hat, AB –The Calgary Hitmen closed out the season series with the Tigers Saturday night in Medicine Hat, falling to their Central Division rivals 8-3.
Calgary opened the scoring at 7:05 of the first period when Kale Dach broke in on a breakaway for his 33rd goal of the season. From there, Medicine Hat responded with three straight goals from Luke Cozens, Yaroslav Bryzgalov, and Bryce Pickford to take a 3-1 lead into the second period.
In the middle frame, Medicine Hat added two more goals from Liam Ruck and Andrew Basha to extend the lead to 6-1. They continued the scoring in the third with tallies from Cozens and Kade Strengrim, pushing the lead to 8-1. Luc Trevors got Calgary back on the board midway through the third period, and Julien Maze scored with just 20 seconds remaining to round out the scoring, as Medicine Hat secured an 8-3 victory.
Calgary is back on the road this week, heading to Saskatchewan for a pair of games beginning Tuesday, Mar. 3 in Moose Jaw before a Wednesday, Mar. 4 stop in Swift Current against the Broncos. The Hitmen will then return home for three in a row, starting Friday, Mar. 6 against the Eastern Conference leading Prince Albert Raiders. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.
