RECAP: Hitmen Close Out B.C Road Trip with 4-2 Victory Over Cougars
Prince George, BC – The Calgary Hitmen closed out their B.C. Division road trip with a 4-2 win over the Prince George Cougars on Saturday night.
Special teams played a major role in the victory, with three of Calgary’s four goals coming on the power play.
Brock Souch opened the scoring for the Cougars at the 6:46 mark of the first period. Calgary responded late in the frame when Hunter Aura tied the game on the power play in the final two minutes. The Hitmen then took their first lead of the night early in the second period, again with the man advantage, as Calder Hamilton tucked home a backdoor feed from Kale Dach. Lee Shurgot then answered for Prince George to even the score at 2-2 heading into the third.
Keaton Jundt scored the game winning goal on another impressive passing play from Dach. With a power play in the final seconds of regulation, Andrei Molgachev rounded out the scoring off a one-timer feed from Julien Maze, sealing the 4-2 victory. Calgary outshot Prince George 40-22.
