ICE SHUTS OUT HITMEN 4-0
The Calgary Hitmen seven-game road trip circled back to Winnipeg for the second time in a week and saw the ICE post a 4-0 victory on Tuesday night at Wayne Fleming Arena.
Conor Geekie, Chase Wheatcroft, Matthew Savoie and Mikey Milne supplied the scoring while goaltender Dawson Cowan made 23 saves to record the shutout.
Winnipeg built period leads of 1-0 and 2-0 and outshot the Hitmen 32-23 as Ethan Buenaventura turned aside 28 shots in the Calgary net.
On the special teams front, both teams were blanked on the power play as Calgary went 0-5 and Winnipeg 0-2.
The Hitmen road trip resumes tomorrow, Wednesday, March 16 in Brandon against the Wheat Kings before heading to Edmonton (Mar. 18) and Medicine Hat (Mar. 26).
After a more than three week absence, Calgary will return to Scotiabank Saddledome on Sunday, March 27 to host the Swift Current Broncos. The 2:00 p.m. start is the Every Child Matters game dedicated to Indigenous youth empowerment through sport and a celebration of the Blackfoot culture. It’s presented by Siksika Health Services in partnership with the Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary, Okaki, and the Blackfoot Confederacy.
