Hitmen, Stampeders and ENMAX to host Great Neighbour Game on August 20 at McMahon Stadium
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen, Calgary Stampeders and ENMAX are teaming up to host the Great Neighbour Game and support Neighbours in need. When the Stamps welcome the Montreal Alouettes on Friday, August 20, in-game festivities will celebrate the many great neighbourhoods of Calgary. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. at McMahon Stadium.
The key pillar of celebrations will be a charitable initiative with fans asked to bring a donation of diapers or formula for the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters (ACWS) which supports the needs of Alberta women and children through over 50 shelters province-wide. The items, which can be dropped off at all stadium entrance locations, will be delivered to our neighbours in need.
“The Calgary Hitmen are excited to launch the Great Neighbour Movement with the Stampeders starting with the August 20th game powered by ENMAX in support of our neighbours in need,” said Hitmen Manager of Business Operations Rob Kerr. “Calgary is full of Great Neighbours and Great Neighbourhoods and we look forward to celebrating these in a unique and fan-centric way. The past 18 months have been a challenge for all of us, and now is the time to build our neighbourhoods back-up together as neighbours. We have some really cool surprises in store for Hitmen and Stamps fans.”
“We thank the Calgary Hitmen, Calgary Stampeders and ENMAX for being great neighbours and for recognizing that frequently, around half the inhabitants of ACWS member domestic violence shelters are children,” commented Christie Lavan, Director of PR and Community Engagement with the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters. “Gathering and distributing donations to help moms care for their infants during a tough time makes a difference.”
“Programs that help address essential needs in our community continue to be a priority for ENMAX,” said Kara Kingston, Director, Brand and External Relations, ENMAX. “We are proud to join our neighbours, including the Calgary Hitmen and Calgary Stampeders, to support the collection of diapers and formula to help women and families who need it most.”
