HITMEN FALL TO BLADES 4-1
The Calgary Hitmen returned to the Scotiabank Saddledome to host the Saskatoon Blades for their final meeting of the regular season. Saskatoon proved victorious tying up the season series with a 4-1 win.
Calgary came out of the first trailing after Trevor Wong opened up the scoring for Saskatoon. Calgary didn’t follow up until the second when Zac Funk found the equalizer for Calgary on the power play netting his 16th of the season. Calgary successfully killed off four Saskatoon power plays in the first two periods, keeping the game tied heading into the third.
Saskatoon finally found success on the power play at 9:17 into the third when they took the lead with Tristen Robins netting their second of the game. Kyle Crnkovic would net the third and fourth goals for Saskatoon securing the win for the visitors.
Calgary net minder Ethan Buenaventura made 31 saves. Zac Funk earned third star of the game.
Calgary will wrap up their four game homestand on Wednesday, Feb. 23 against the Prince Albert Raiders. It’s the TELUS BE BRAVE #EndBullying game with a 6:00 p.m. start Scotiabank Saddledome. To ensure accessibility for everyone, the Hitmen and TELUS are also hosting a free online virtual morning event the same day at both 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. Attendees to both the game and online events are encouraged to wear pink in support of the campaign and in recognition of Pink Shirt Day.
