Hitmen Announce 2021-22 WHL Regular Season Schedule
The Calgary Hitmen today unveiled their 2021-22 regular season schedule. The Hitmen will begin their 27th Western Hockey League season on Friday, October 1 in Lethbridge. Calgary returns to Scotiabank Saddledome two days later for their home opener in a rematch with the Hurricanes. Game time on Sunday, October 3 is 2:00 p.m.
The full 68-game schedule sees the Hitmen play exclusively within the 12-team Eastern Conference. Calgary will face all their Central Division rivals in Edmonton, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Red Deer and Swift Current eight times each (four home, four away) while playing an unbalanced schedule against East Division opponents with six dates each against Moose Jaw and Regina and four games against the remainder of the division in Brandon, Prince Albert, Saskatoon and Winnipeg.
Among the schedule highlights is the ENMAX Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday, December 4 at 2:00 p.m. when the Hitmen host the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Every Child Matters on Saturday, January 15 against the Prince Albert Raiders. The always popular Sunday Funday returns as well this season.
Individual game day tickets will go on sale on September 10 beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the exception of the ENMAX Teddy Bear Toss. Those tickets will be available starting at 10:00 a.m. on October 12.
Of the 34 Hitmen home dates, 28 will be played on weekends or holidays with the following breakdown: Friday (5), Saturday (5), Sunday (17) plus a Tuesday game during the Christmas season on December 28 against Medicine Hat.
Hitmen home games played Monday through Friday will have a 7:00 p.m. puck drop with one exception:
- 11:00 a.m. for the TELUS BE BRAVE #EndBullying Game on Wednesday, February 23 against Prince Albert
Sunday home ‘Dome starts begin at 2:00 or 4:00 p.m. while new this coming season are Saturday matinees with every opening faceoff at either 1:00 or 2:00 p.m.
All Hitmen games will be broadcast live on Sportsnet 960-The Fan or online on the Alternate Stream at Sportsnet.ca/960. Fans can also watch online with a paid subscription to WHL Live on CHL TV.
