GAME PREVIEW: Calgary vs Moose Jaw | 11.27.25
HITMEN HEADLINES: The Calgary Hitmen (12-6-3-1) swing back into action tonight following a three-day break to host the Moose Jaw Warriors (11-11-1-1). Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome. Be sure to take advantage of the $6 food and drink Hitmen Happy Hour from when doors open at 6:00 p.m. up until the opening faceoff. The Hitmen are coming off Sunday’s 3-2 home ice overtime loss to Medicine Hat. Calgary forced the extra session when Harrison Lodewyk scored a power play goal with 4:59 remaining in regulation. Rylan Ng also scored for the Hitmen on a day when they outshot the Tigers 36-20. Moose Jaw has enjoyed a four-day break with their last outing a 3-2 home ice triumph over Swift Current last Saturday. Matthew Lajoie, Connor Schmidt and Pavel McKenzie all scored for the Warriors who received a 30 save performance from goaltender Chase Wutzke.
MOOSE JAW: Tonight marks the second of four regular season meetings between the two clubs. Moose Jaw grabbed the opener earlier this month in Saskatchewan. Calgary went 4-0 against the Warriors last season, including a 2-0 record at the ‘Dome. Hunter Aura Leads the Hitmen with two points (2a) in the season series while Mathieu Lajoie (1g, 2a) and Aiden Ziprick (3a) have been the top performers for Moose Jaw with three points each. Their next meeting is just under three months away on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 11:00 a.m. when the Warriors are back in the ‘Dome for the 8th Annual TELUS BE BRAVE #EndBullying game.

WHERE THEY STAND: Calgary is fifth in the Eastern Conference with 28 points, three points behind Saskatoon but with three games in hand on the Blades. At 24 points, Moose Jaw is four points back of the Hitmen. The Warriors have also played two more games than Calgary.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTEBOOK: The Hitmen power play has scored at least once in seven straight games, going a combined 10-26 (38.5%) during that span.…The Hitmen penalty kill leads the WHL at 86.3%.
HOME COOKING: Tonight is the second game in a stretch for the Hitmen that sees the club play eight of their next 10 games at home. Among the highlights will be the Teddy Bear Toss powered by ENMAX when the Hitmen host Wenatchee on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 4:00 p.m. Press Level seating is now open for the popular holiday season spectacle which will see fans bring a Teddy Bear to the game to toss on the ice when the Hitmen score their first goal. There is a charitable ask for 30,000 bears this coming holiday season.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING: As a team, the Hitmen are 55.7% on face-offs this season with Harrison Lodewyk leading the way at 64.9%…Brandon Gorzynski tops Calgary with 67 shots on goal followed closely by Ethan Moore who has 62… Calgary has 24 players on their roster including 14 forwards, eight defencemen and two goaltenders. There are only seven returning players from last season with 14 rookies on the club…Calgary is 4-2-1-0 against teams from the East Division while Moose Jaw is 5-2-0-0 against the Central.
WHL LEADERBOARD: Eric Tu is fourth in goals against average at 2.49 while his .909 save percentage ranks tied for sixth. Calgary has four of the WHL’s Top-18 Rookie scorers. Kale Dach is fourth with 25 points (10g, 15a) while Andrei Molgachev (8g, 6a), Landon Amrhein (5g, 9a) and Ben MacBeath (5g, 9a) are all tied for 18th with 14 points each. Kale Dach and Brandon Gorzynski are tied for the Hitmen team lead in goals at 10 which ranks tied for 35th overall in the WHL and 15th in the Eastern Conference.
2026 NHL DRAFT: Five Hitmen are on NHL Central Scouting’s list as Preliminary Players to Watch ahead of the 2026 draft. Landon Amrheim and Ben MacBeath are forecast as second or third-round picks. Hunter Aura, Aidan Hesse and Andrei Molgachev are projected to be sixth or seventh-round candidates.
ROSTER MOVE: Last week the Hitmen added Cohen Daoust to the roster as an affiliate player. The 19-year-old forward from St. Albert, AB has one assist in three games after starting the season in the AJHL with Canmore. He departed as the top Eagles scorer and was third overall in league scoring with 29 points (15g, 14a) in 19 games.
HOME AND AWAY COMPARISON: The Hitmen are 5-4-1-0 on home ice this season having outscored their opponents by a combined 31-28. Moose Jaw is 4-4-0-1 on the road and are tied with Tri-City for the fourth fewest road games played by any team in the WHL this season at nine. By comparison Edmonton leads the way having already played 16 times in enemy arenas.
WHL REGULAR SEASON MILESTONES: Harrison Lodewyk played career game 250 on Sunday against Medicine Hat. He is also two assists shy of 50.
ALUMNI WATCH: Kalem Parker is playing in the NCAA with the Michigan Tech Huskies and majoring in sports and fitness management. The 21-year-old defenceman has four points (2g, 2a) plus 16 shots on goal in 14 games. Paker joined the Hitmen last November in a trade with Moose Jaw and went on to tally 28 points (7g, 21a) in 47 games.
PROSPECT WATCH: Walker Filewich, Calgary’s top pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft, taken in the second round, 35th overall, is playing U18 Prep in the CSSHL with the Calgary International Hockey Academy. The 15-year-old forward has eight points (4g, 4a) in nine games.
