GAME ONE RECAP: Hitmen Fall to Tigers 3-2 in Overtime
Medicine Hat, AB – The Calgary Hitmen opened the Eastern Conference semifinal in Medicine Hat on Friday night. Despite a late equalizer to force overtime, Calgary fell 3-22 in extra time.
Medicine Hat opened the scoring late in the second period, with Kade Stengrim finding the back of the net. Calgary responded quickly, less than a minute later, with Kale Dach tipping in a shot from Hunter Aura to tie the game heading into the third.
The home side regained the lead early in the final frame, with Bryce Pickford scoring on the power play just 1:41 in. At the 11:39 mark, Ethan Moore netted his sixth goal of the playoffs to even things up and send the game to overtime.
With just one minute remaining in the first overtime period, Pickford struck again with his second of the night to secure the win for Medicine Hat and give them a 1–0 series lead. Eric Tu was solid in goal, stopping 40 shots and earning third star honours.

The series resumes tomorrow with Game 2 once against in Medicine Hat on Saturday, Apr. 11 in a 7:00 p.m. start at Co-op Place. It’s then off to Calgary for Games 3 and 4 on Monday, Apr. 13 and Wednesday, Apr. 15. The puck will drop for both games at 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.
