CALGARY HITMEN SELECT EIGHT PLAYERS IN WHL PROSPECTS DRAFT
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen selected a total of eight players at the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft, held by the league office online on Thursday. In all, the Hitmen selected five forwards, twodefencemen and one goaltender.
The Hitmen traded up in the second round to select goaltender Owen Ryan 36th overall with their first pick. Ryan is a 6’2 goaltender from White Bear Lake, Minnesota who recorded a 0.949 SV% and 1.34 GAA in 23 games played as an underage player in Minnesota High School Hockey.
“We’re thrilled with the quality of prospects we have added to our organization at all positions.” said Calgary Hitmen Director of Scouting Gary Michalick. “Despite not owning a first-round pick, we were able to add talented prospects from both Canada and U.S. that were very high on our draft board. This draft class has the potential to be a core group of Hitmen players moving forward. We’re excited to welcome these players and their families to Calgary and look forward to seeing the impact they’ll make.”
