Gallagher Raises $7,140 For Prostate Cancer
On Friday October 14, Vancouver Giants forward Brendan Gallagher presented the Prostate Cancer Foundation of BC a cheque for $7,140. The 4th year Giant raised the money during the 2010-11 WHL season through Gally’s Goals For Cancer; an intiative he created to honour his late grandfather Matt who passed away in October 2010 after losing his battle with prostate cancer. Brendan donated $20 for every Vancouver Giants victory (35 wins = $700) and the organization chipped in with $100 for every goal Brendan scored (44 goals = $4,400), plus there was another $2,040 in donations from fans, totalling $7,140.
“Last year’s fundraiser for prostate cancer was a huge success,” said Brendan Gallagher. “I am very thankful to the Vancouver Giants organization for jumping on board and to everyone who donated and helped raise this much money for such a great cause. I’m looking forward to doing it again this season and hopefully more people will get involved so we can surpass last year’s totals.”
