TRADE: Giants Acquire Local Forward Marinkovic from Hitmen
Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants announced today the acquisition of 2004-born forward Tomis Marinkovic (Coquitlam, B.C.) from the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for 2005-born forward Connor Dale (St. Albert, Alta).
Marinkovic, 19, played in 56 games last season for the Hitmen, scoring five goals and adding 11 assists for 16 points. He also suited up in five playoff games.
The 6-foot-2, 190 lb. forward started the 2023-24 season with the Hitmen, but then signed with the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, where he co-leads the team with 39 points in 28 games, including 17 goals. His 17 goals and 39 points both rank in the top-20 in the AJHL.
Prior to his time with the Hitmen, Marinkovic played for the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs U18 AAA team, where he was the captain in the 2021-22 season. That year, he led the club in scoring and helped them advance to the Telus Cup, where he recorded four goals in five games.
Marinkovic is expected to make his Giants debut at home on Wednesday.
