Spokane, WA – The Vancouver Giants (8-12-2-0) visit the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena tonight for the first time this season to battle the Spokane Chiefs (8-8-2-0).
While it’s the first road contest against Spokane, the Giants have played them once this season, beating them 5-3 on Oct. 22 on Referee Appreciation Night.
The Giants are coming off a tough 4-3 overtime loss on home ice to the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday, while the Chiefs beat Kamloops 3-2 in a shootout this past Sunday. The Giants are 3-6-1 in their last 10, while the Chiefs are 4-5-1 in their last 10.

LAST TIME OUT
The Vancouver Giants fell 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night to the Lethbridge Hurricanes at the Langley Events Centre.
Vancouver got a pair of goals from rookie Cameron Schmidt, plus a third period tally from Tyler Thorpe to go ahead 3-1, but the Hurricanes came back to tie the game before winning it 47 seconds into overtime. Matthew Hutchison was solid in net for Vancouver, finishing with 37 saves on 41 shots.
TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
These clubs both have 18 points in the standings, although the Chiefs have four games in hand, making this contest crucial for Vancouver.
Tonight is the second of four head-to-head meetings this season. In the previous matchup on Oct. 22, the Giants got goals from five different players in a 5-3 victory.
Spokane will be playing the final game of a five-game homestand, where they are 2-2 so far. They’re coming off a 3-2 shootout victory over Kamloops on Sunday. The previous night, they lost 8-6 to Wenatchee. The Chiefs are 5-5 on home ice so far this season.
Also of note is that both Head Coach Manny Viveiros and Associate Coach Adam Maglio will be coaching against their former team. The two were behind the bench together during the 2019-20 season, where the Chiefs had a 41-18-4-1 record and were winners of 10 straight games before COVID shut down the season. Maglio was later named the Head Coach of the Chiefs, serving in that role for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 season.
