PREVIEW: Giants Meet Cougars For 1st Time on Sunday
Langley, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants (7-7-0-1) face the Prince George Cougars (9-5-0-0) this afternoon in the first of four meetings this season.
The Giants are coming off a 5-2 home loss last night to the Kelowna Rockets, who took a 3-1 lead early in the second and added a power play marker midway through the third to pull away. Both of Vancouver’s goals last night came on the power play, so they will look to generate more at 5-on-5 today.
Despite the loss, the Giants are still 5-2-0-1 in their last eight games.
The Cougars have had a strong start, winning seven of their first nine games, though they are now 2-3-0 in their last five games. Prince George has played twice already this weekend: losing 6-2 to Portland on Friday before rebounding with a 4-3 OT win last night in Seattle.
The Cougars are an impressive 5-1-0 on the road so far this season. With the addition of Penticton to the B.C. division, the Giants and Cougars will only play four times this season, down from eight last year.
