PREVIEW: Giants Host Rebels for First Time Since 2020

Langley, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants (6-8-1-0) host the Red Deer Rebels (6-8-0-2) tonight at the Langley Events Centre at 7:00 p.m. in the first head-to-head meeting since Feb. 12, 2020.
The Giants are coming off a 3-2 shootout win over the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday night, which improved their home record to 5-2-1.
Red Deer played last night in Victoria, losing 3-2 in regulation. They were down 3-0 after the first period and then scored twice in a span of 1:19 late in the third to make things interesting, but they were unable to tie the game.

LAST TIME OUT
The Vancouver Giants picked up two big points in their last outing, edging the Kamloops Blazers 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday, Nov. 4.
Goaltending was a storyline for the Giants in this one, as Brett Mirwald was the best player on either side, finishing with 41 saves on 43 shots for his fifth win of the season.
Scoring for the Giants in regulation was Connor Dale (2nd) and Jaden Lipinski (3rd). Ty Halaburda provided the shootout winner, as he was the only player on both teams to score in the shootout.
TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
Tonight is the first and only meeting between Vancouver and Red Deer this season.
The last time they met was on Oct. 28, 2022 in Red Deer, with the Rebels winning 4-0.
Vancouver last hosted Red Deer nearly four years ago, when Vancouver won 4-1 and the club extended their winning streak to seven games. Tristan Nielsen was the first star of that game.
Vancouver is 5-2-1 on home ice this season, while the Rebels are 4-3-0-2 on the road.
