PREVIEW: Giants Battle Chiefs in Annual Toy Drive Game on Sunday
LANGLEY, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants (13-17-1-1) look to bounce back from a lacklustre effort in their Teddy Bear Toss game last night when they host the Spokane Chiefs (16-15-0-0) for the first time this season today at Langley Events Centre at 4 p.m.
Today is the Giants annual Toy Drive in partnership with the Township of Langley Firefighters, so fans are encouraged to bring a brand new toy to the game to help brighten a child’s this holiday season.
The Giants have gone 1-1 with the Victoria Royals so far this weekend, after a 5-4 road win on Friday in the shootout, followed by yesterday’s 3-1 setback.
Vancouver is 2-3-0 so far in December and 4-5-1 in their last 10. The Giants need to pick up points to keep pace in the Western Conference: they enter action sitting three points out of 8th place.
The Chiefs are coming off a 6-4 loss last night to Everett, but beat Portland handily at home on Friday 8-3. They are 5-5-0 in their last 10 and recently made two big roster additions, trading for 20-year-old forwards Logan Wormald and Dominik Petr in separate deals.
