Giants Sign Forward Leonardo Domenichelli to WHL Scholarship & Devlopment Agreement

Ladner, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants are excited to announce the signing of 2006-born forward Leonardo Domenichelli (Lugano, SUI) to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Domenichelli, 19, was selected by the Giants in the seventh round of the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft on May 8, 2025. He is a dual Swiss-Canadian citizen and does not count as an Import player.

“We were thrilled to be able to draft Leonardo in May and are excited to officially add him to our forward group,” Giants Assistant General Manager Pete Toigo said. “He’s a strong skater with high-end skill and has the ability to contribute in multiple roles.”

Domenichelli has played the last two seasons in the Swiss U20 junior league. He led HC Lugano’s U20 team in scoring with 44 points in 43 games last season, thanks to 19 goals and 25 assists. Those 44 points were double what he produced in his 17-year-old season.

The right-shot forward has also represented Switzerland on the international stage at various age levels, playing in a total of 30 games from 2021-25, during which he recorded 11 points (5G-6A).

Domenichelli is the son of former NHLer and current Giants General Manager Hnat Domenichelli.
