Giants Alumni Kane, Kulak Begin Stanley Cup Final Wednesday
Langley, B.C. – With the Stanley Cup Final getting underway tonight between the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers, the Vancouver Giants are proud to acknowledge alumni Evander Kane and Brett Kulak, who are both competing with the Oilers.
Edmonton is looking to flip the script from last spring, when they erased a 3-0 series deficit in the final against Florida, but ultimately lost in seven games. The Oilers are hoping to end Canada’s 32-year Stanley Cup drought.
Kane is expected to start game two on the left wing with Leon Draisaitl and Kasperi Kapanen, while Kulak is expected to be paired with Darnell Nurse.
So far in the playoffs, Kane has 11 points (5G-6A) in 15 games, along with a +5 rating. Kulak has five points (1G-4A) in 16 games, with a +11 rating, tied for second-best on Edmonton and tied for third-best in the NHL.

As a Giant, Kane played two full seasons (2007-09), jumping from 24 goals and 41 points in his rookie season to 48 goals and 96 points in 2008-09, which led to him being the 4th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. With 73 career goals as a Giant, Kane ranks 12th in all-time goals for the franchise.
Kulak played three full seasons (2011-14) with the Giants, culminating in a standout 60-point campaign in 2013-14, during which he was also an alternate captain. He was selected by the Flames in the fourth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
