GAME DAY: Tuesday, January 7 at Prince George
Prince George, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants (19-14-4-0) look to keep the good times rolling when they visit the Prince George Cougars (22-10-3-2) on Tuesday night at CN Centre at 7 p.m.
The G-Men are coming off back-to-back shutouts: 3-0 over Wenatchee on Friday at home and 7-0 over Kelowna on the road on Saturday. Giants goaltender Burke Hood hasn’t allowed a goal in his last 149 minutes and 48 seconds of action and was named the WHL’s Goaltender of the Week yesterday. Offensively, Vancouver has gotten contributions from a number of sources as of late: 10 different Giants have found the back of the net in the last three games.
Both Vancouver and Prince George have won six of their last seven games.
The G-Men made a pair of trades on Tuesday morning, acquiring 19-year-old goaltender Brady Smith and 20-year-old forward Maxim Muranov. Both will join the team on Tuesday.
The Giants are 1-2-1 vs. the Cougars so far this season. They won the last head-to-head meeting on home ice on Nov. 24 by a score of 4-3. Tyson Zimmer had two goals in that game, including the game-winner.
The Giants are 7-3-0-0 in their last 10, while the Cougars are 8-2-0-0. Prince George is 11-2-3-2 on home ice this season.
