GAME DAY: January 31 at Seattle
Seattle, WA – The Vancouver Giants (23-17-6-0) look for revenge tonight on the road against the Seattle Thunderbirds (16-27-2-1), who beat them 10 days ago 7-1.
The puck drops on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. PT.
The G-Men followed up Jan. 21’s loss to Seattle by going 1-0-1 over the weekend, defeating Kelowna on the road on Saturday 6-4 and falling 3-2 in overtime to Swift Current at home on Sunday.
Vancouver is 10-4-2 in their last 16 games, currently five points back of fourth place Portland.
Seattle remains in last place in the Western Conference, but they are just three points back of the eighth and final playoff spot. They are 4-2 in their last six games and 5-5-0 in their last 10. The Thunderbird’s most recent result was a 6-1 loss to Everett last Saturday.
The Giants lead the season series 2-1, with tonight being the fourth and final matchup.

Seattle got out to a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes before Cameron Schmidt cut Seattle’s lead in half with his team-leading 32nd goal of the season early in the second. The Thunderbirds got one back to lead 3-1 after 40 minutes. They would go on to score four times in a 12-minute span to put the game out of reach. Seattle got two goals from Nathan Pilling, plus single tallies from Matej Pekar, Brayden Shuurman, Braeden Cootes, Coster Dunn and Ashton Cumby.

WHO TO WATCH
VANCOUVER: #47 MAZDEN LESLIE – After recording an assist on Sunday, Leslie extended his point streak to a season-high 10 games (5G-12A). He also has 22 points in his last 14 games (5G-17A). Leslie enters Friday’s action sitting 2nd in defensive scoring in the WHL with 51 points (12G-39A). The Lloydminster, Alta. product is one goal shy of tying the Giants all-time record for goals by a defenceman, currently held by Jonathon Blum (49)
SEATTLE: #86 BRAEDEN COOTES – Cootes leads Seattle in scoring with 44 points and is tied for the team-lead in goals with 20. The Sherwood Park, Alta. native had three points in the last H2H game with Vancouver (1G-2A), but also enters with 12 points in his last eight games (6G-6A). The 17-year-old was the 21st ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting on their mid-term rankings, released on January 14.
