GAME DAY: Giants vs. Blazers Oct. 27
Langley, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants (6-4-2-0) take on the Kamloops Blazers (6-6-1-0) this afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre in the second of eight meetings this season.
It’s the annual Trick or Suite game, which is the first theme game of the season. For information on the off-ice activities taking place during today’s game, click here.
The Giants have suffered two straight overtime losses on the road, last weekend by a 3-2 score to Wenatchee and most recently two nights ago in a 4-3 loss to Spokane.
Meanwhile, the Blazers beat the Moose Jaw Warriors last night on home ice 6-4 for their fourth straight victory. The other wins during the streak were over Portland (Oct. 17), Wenatchee (Oct. 19) and Victoria (Oct. 22).
Although the Giants couldn’t get the extra point on Friday, they played well, erasing deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 to force overtime. Today is just the fifth home game for Vancouver this season.

TODAY’S MATCHUP
The first head-to-head game between these teams was a wild 8-6 win for the G-Men on home ice on October 4, where they erased an early 3-0 deficit and scored six consecutive goals between the first and second periods. All four goaltenders played in that contest. Giants captain Mazden Leslie was the first star in the game with a shorthanded goal and two assists.
Since then, the Blazers have gotten some reinforcements, with Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick Harrison Brunicke now back from NHL camp. So too is veteran blueliner Ryan Michael, from Langley, who played his first game of the season last night and picked up an assist.
As much of a focal point as Cameron Schmidt is for the Giants (12 goals, 21 points), so too is 2022 first-round pick Nathan Behm for Kamloops, who also has 12 goals and is now up to 22 points, after he recorded a goal and three assists on Saturday night. Schmidt is riding a league-high 12-game point streak, while Behm has 10 points in his last two games, after he had a career-high six points this past Tuesday against Victoria.
