GAME DAY: Friday, January 17 vs. Tri-City
Langley, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants (20-16-5-0) have an opportunity to hop into sixth place in the Western Conference when they host the Tri-City Americans (21-14-3-1) tonight at 7 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre, who currently sit just one point ahead of them in the standings.
Tonight’s contest has off-ice significance, with the Giants hosting a Chuck-a-Puck during the second intermission with proceeds going to Home Bank LA to help those impacted by the recent devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. Home Bank LA is an extension of the non-profit A Sense of Home (ASOH), who turn empty spaces into homes.
The G-Men are coming off a 6-4 win over the Kelowna Rockets last Saturday at home, which capped off a busy stretch of 10 games in 16 days. The Giants went 6-3-1 in those 10 contests. Vancouver is also 4-1 in their last five home games.
The Americans enter action with only three wins in their last 15 games (3-9-2-1). They also haven’t won a road game since Nov. 29 (0-4 in that stretch). Since coming back from the holiday break, Tri-City has gone 2-6-1, while getting outscored 47-26 in those contests.
The Giants are 2-0 against Tri-City so far this season, with wins on December 6 (3-2 OTW) and December 15 (5-1).
Vancouver is 12-7-1 on home ice this season; the Ams are 8-8-1-0 on the road.
