Americans Beat Giants

The Vancouver Giants surrendered 5 power play goals in a penalty filled affair, losing 9-1 to the Tri-City Americans Friday night in Kennewick, Washington.

The Americans scored early an often, getting 3 goals in a span of 3:20 early in the first to take a 3-0 lead. They would add another before the period was out to go ahead 4-0 after 20 minutes.

Tri-City scored 3 more in the second period to lead 7-0 through 2 periods of play. James Henry would get the Giants lone goal of the game in the third period, but the Americans would add 2 more to make it a 9-1 final.

Both teams combined for 277 minutes in penalties, 176 going to Vancouver. Brett Lyon, Matt MacKay, Jordan Martinook, Tanner, Sohn, Mark Reners, and head coach Don Hay were all given game misconducts.

Vancouver is back in action tomorrow night when they take on the Spokane Chiefs. It is their final game before the Christmas break. Game time is 7:00pm. Pregame show begins at 6:30pm on AM 650.
