Gallagher Leads Giants To A 5-1 Victory
The Vancouver Giants scored on their first shot of the game 32 seconds in and never looked back, defeating the Victoria Royals 5-1. Brendan Gallagher led the way with 3 goals and 5 points in the victory. The 19 year old now has 7 goals in 4 games this season.
Playing on a line with Marek Tvrdon and James Henry, Gallagher took a feed just over the Royals line and fired home his 1st of the afternoon 32 seconds in beating Keith Hamilton. It was Gallagher’s 100th career WHL goal. Just under 4 minutes later, James Henry banged home a rebound to put the home side up 2-0. Gallagher and Tyler Hart had the helpers. The Giants made it 3-0 before the midway point of the period as Tvrdon converted a nice feed from Gallagher for his 3rd goal of the season. Shots were 12-7 in favour of Vancouver through 20 minutes.
It only took 27 seconds to add to their lead in the second period; Gallagher potted his 2nd of the game to put the Giants up 4-0. The Royals managed just 4 shots in the period. 4-0 is how things stayed after two periods.
Lucas Kralik would snap Adam Morrison’s shutout bid 6:57 into the third period, taking advantage of a Giants turnover and beating Morrison short side. Gallagher though was not done on the afternoon. He would add one more goal for the hat trick, finishing the game with 5 points. The line of Gallagher, Henry, and Tvrdon combined for 11 points on the afternoon. 5-1 was the final. Morrison made 18 saves for his 2nd victory as a Vancouver Giant, while Hamilton stopped 25 of 30 Vancouver shots he faced. Both teams finished 0-for-3 on the power play.
