On a second-period penalty kill, Brock Souch (NHL CSS: 166) poke-checked the puck away from the Chiefs off the rush for a shorthanded breakaway, where he deked Carter Esler and backhanded the puck into a yawning cage. Coco Armstrong responded with an equalizing snapper, but Kayden Lemire (NHL CSS: 64) restored the visitors’ lead with a seeing-eye wrister less than three minutes later. Spokane trade deadline pickup Tyus Sparks (NHL CSS: 63) got the crowd on its feet by picking the top corner on a screened powerplay shot for his second strike in as many games. Neither team could find a go-ahead goal in the third, setting the stage for overtime. An early tripping call gave Prince George a glorious opportunity, and 1:06 into the extra frame, defenceman Arsenii Anisimov (NHL CSS: 198) called game with a tremendous one-timer from the point. Souch stole the puck from Tyus Sparks and made no mistake on the breakaway for his fourth goal of the playoffs.

Spokane tied the game at 12:16 when Coco Armstrong wired a shot from the right circle. The Cougars quickly restored their lead at 14:58, as Kayden Lemire snapped a wrist shot from the right circle past Carter Esler. Spokane responded again late in the period, with Sparks scoring on the power play at 18:48.

An entertaining third period saw both Ravensbergen and Esler make key saves, sending the game to overtime.

In the extra frame, the Cougars went to an early power play and capitalized. On just their second man advantage of the game, Souch found Anisimov in the high slot, and he hammered a one-timer past Esler at 1:06 to give the Cougars a 3–0 series lead and put them one win away from Round 2.

What’s Next:

The Cougars will look to complete the series sweep on Wednesday, April 1 in Spokane.

[437
post-47729","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-article","category-437","description-off

https://media.chl.ca/wp-content/uploads/sites/46/2026/03/31122128/2026_03_30-OT-4-scaled.jpg",2560,1707,false
["GET

SPOKANE, WASH – After taking care of business on home ice, the Prince George Cougars will try to keep the train rolling as their series against the Spokane Chiefs shifts south of the border.

WHEN: Monday, March 30

PUCK DROP: 7:05 pm

Prince George Cougars Roster Breakdown (Birth Year):

2005-born players (3) – Dumanski, Gizowski, Seitz

2006-born players (7) – Souch, Ashe, Parascak, Vaughan, Ravensbergen, Levshyn, Sobry

2007-born players (6) – Foster, Yakutsenak, Shurgot, Lajoie, Anisimov, Fisher

2008-born players (7) – Kozicky, Lemire, Finnegan, Cahill, Carels, Johnston, Funk

2009-born players (2) – Hajt, Wotherspoon

Spokane Chiefs Roster Breakdown (Birth Year):

2005-born players (3): Oremba, Petr, Wormald

2006-born players (8): Rebman, Vielliard, Howell, Armstrong, McIsaac, Mayes, Sarkenov, Hughes

2007-born players (5): Schoettler, Martin, Perreault, Harrington, Buckley

2008-born players (6): Sparks, Saunderson, Gillespie, Harris, Sather, Esler

2009-born players (5): Burcar, McIntyre, Zasada, Roberts, Mattern

The Series So Far:

Game 1: Brock Souch scored twice and compiled four points to help the Cougars to a 6-3 win.
