CHIEFS AND COMCAST REACH TELEVISION AGREEMENT
Comcast will also produce “Chiefs Insider,” a magazine style show. The games and the “Chiefs Insider” program will be available On Demand within a few hours after the original broadcasts. They will remain On Demand for the duration of the Chiefs’ season.
“This is a big investment for us and we couldn’t be more excited to be the exclusive television provider of the Spokane Chiefs. The games and “Chiefs Insider” will be available at no charge on Comcast On Demand to anyone who has digital cable,” said Ken Watts, Spokane general manager for Comcast. “Many of us at Comcast are Chiefs fans. This gives all of us in Spokane another way to follow our hometown team.”
For the third year in a row, Comcast will air games originating from the Tri-Cities when the Chiefs travel to take on their U.S. Division rival Americans. As a part of the reciprocal agreement, five Chiefs-Americans games from the Spokane Arena will air on MY Network station 42.2 digital in the Tri-Cities and 35.2 KAPP in Yakima. The game from Kootenay will be picked up by Comcast in Spokane from a Shaw Cable Broadcast airing across Canada.
On Demand offers Comcast Digital Cable customers more control than ever before, with the ability to choose from movies, music, sports, news, instructional and entertainment programming and more, all with the functionality of a VCR.
Comcast launched On Demand to its Spokane customers in 2005 and currently offers 7,000 programs. The service has become extremely popular, with Spokane customers viewing On Demand programs more than 100,000 times a week, according to figures compiled by Comcast.
