Cheveldayoff, Weinstein named to main camp rosters for respective NHL teams
After strong showings at the rookie tournament in Las Vegas, Chiefs forward Ty Cheveldayoff and defenseman Saige Weinstein have both been named to their respective teams’ main training camp rosters. Cheveldayoff is attending the Vegas Golden Knights’ camp, while Weinstein will be at the Colorado Avalanche’s camp.
Cheveldayoff is one of 63 players, including 36 forwards, at Vegas’ camp, which is set to begin Thursday, September 21 at City National Arena. The team plays its first preseason game on Sunday, September 24 at San Jose and will open the regular season on Tuesday, October 10 at home against Seattle. Cheveldayoff will wear #77.
Weinstein is one of 60 players, including 18 blueliners, at Colorado’s camp, which also kicks off today. The team plays its first preseason game on Sunday, September 24 against the Minnesota Wild and will open the regular season on Wednesday, October 11 at Los Angeles. Weinstein will wear #89.
Neither Chief is expected to be available for this weekend’s season-opening games on Friday against Kamloops and Sunday against Everett.
