Goal and Assist from McIsaac not enough as Chiefs fall 6-3 at Tri
Kennewick, Wash. – The Chiefs visited the Americans on Saturday night for the middle game of a three-in-three stretch for Spokane. After emerging victorious in Everett on Friday, Spokane battled local rival Tri-City with playoff implications on the line.
The first period was all about one player, Dawson Cowan. The Chiefs’ goaltender made 20(!) saves in the frame, highlighted by three stops on a Tri-City breakout.

The Chiefs would kill off two penalties in the first, and the game would head to intermission at nil-nil.
The second period opened with a flurry. After a turnover behind the Chiefs net, the Americans would score just 26 seconds into the period thanks to Anisimovicz and score again exactly 26 seconds after that to make it 2-0 with a goal from Sloan.
Spokane would respond with a short-handed goal later in the period as Chase Bertholet was hooked on a breakaway. He stepped up to take the penalty shot and buried it to make it 2-1.
Anisimovicz would score his second of the game less than a minute later, bringing the score back to a two-goal deficit.
This time it was the Chiefs turn to score quick, with a Will McIsaac goal just 24 seconds into the third period.

It was his fourth of the season, with the assist going to Rasmus Ekström, making it a one goal game. Tri-City would boost the lead with two straight goals from Jackson Smith.
Spokane would score a third after a breakout saw Ben Bonni and Owen Martin combine for the youngster’s 12th of the season.

Will McIsaac also tallied an assist on Martin’s goal, joining Bonni.
The Chiefs would push for the comeback but ultimately come up short as the Americans tacked on an empty net goal late on to take this one 6-3.
Cowan made 41 saves in net while the Chiefs penalty kill went 4/5 on the night.
