Swift Current, SK - The Swift Current Broncos have acquired 2007-born forward Clarke Schaefer and a fourth-round pick in the 2030 WHL Prospects Draft from the Everett Silvertips in exchange for 2008-born forward Brendan Rudolph.

“This trade will afford Brendan more opportunity to play a role that he desires. He is a great young man and we wish him much success going forward,” said Broncos General Manager and Head Coach Travis Crickard.

“We would like to welcome Clarke to the Broncos. His identity as a player will be a welcome fit to the intensity and intelligence that we are looking to play with.”

The Broncos thank Rudolph for his contributions to the organization.

The Swift Current Broncos wrapped up their six-game B.C. Division road trip on a high note Sunday afternoon, defeating the Prince George Cougars 3-2 in a shootout at the CN Centre. The victory marked Swift Current's first win over Prince George since January 2023 and helped the Broncos finish their road trip with a 3-3-0-0 record, improving to 5-4-0-0 on the season.

The Broncos came out strong in the opening period, controlling much of the play and outshooting Prince George 10-3. Oliver Torkki opened the scoring at 11:44 with his third goal of the season, assisted by Colton Alain and Trae Wilke, giving Swift Current an early 1-0 advantage. Just over three minutes later, Brendan Rudolph doubled the Broncos' lead at 14:59, scoring his second goal of the season off a feed from Jayden Oleskiw. The strong opening frame sent Swift Current into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead. Prince George responded quickly in the second period when Aiden Foster scored just 10 seconds into the frame, cutting the Broncos' lead to 2-1. The Cougars continued to apply pressure throughout the period, outshooting Swift Current 13-9, but the Broncos held their one-goal advantage heading into the third. The Cougars continued to push in the final frame and eventually found the equalizer at 9:57 when Dermot Johnston scored his first goal of the season to tie the game at 2-2. Despite being outshot 13-7 in the third period, the Broncos battled hard defensively to keep the game even and force overtime. Prince George recorded all three shots in the extra frame, but Cal Conway stood tall between the pipes to send the game to a shootout. After Kayd Ruedig was unable to convert on Swift Current's opening attempt, Stepan Farushev found the back of the net in the second round. Prince George's Tre Peck answered to keep the shootout tied before Ty Meunier stepped up and scored on the Broncos' third attempt. Conway then shut the door on Kayden Lemire to secure the 3-2 victory for Swift Current. Conway delivered another strong performance in goal, turning aside 30 of 32 shots through regulation and overtime before stopping two of Prince George's three shootout attempts. The Cougars finished the afternoon with a 32-26 advantage in shots, while neither team was able to capitalize on the power play. Swift Current went 0-for-1 with the man advantage and successfully killed off both Prince George opportunities. The Broncos also controlled the faceoff circle, winning 39 draws compared to the Cougars' 26. The victory was a strong finish to a challenging six-game trip through British Columbia, as the Broncos earned wins over Vancouver, Penticton and Prince George to finish with a 3-3-0-0 road trip record. Swift Current now returns home with a 5-4-0-0 record and will be back in action on Friday, October 16, when the Broncos host the Saskatoon Blades at the InnovationPlex for Cancer Awareness Night.

Broncos Sign 20-Year-Old Forward Jacob Beaulieu

Swift Current, SK - The Swift Current Broncos are pleased to announce the signing of 2006-born forward Jacob Beaulieu to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

The La Pocatière, Quebec product spent four seasons in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), recording 16 goals, 10 assists and 249 penalty minutes in 210 games. The 20-year-old has made an immediate impact since joining the Broncos, bringing a physical presence and competitive edge to the lineup.

“While he was already named a member of our leadership group we are excited to pen to paper and officially welcome Jacob and his family to the Broncos. Jacob’s competitiveness and heart of a lion attitude will surely make him a fan favorite in Swift Current this season,” said Broncos General Manager and Head Coach Travis Crickard.

The Broncos look forward to Beaulieu's continued contributions both on and off the ice throughout the season.

Broncos Sign 2008-Born Defenceman Avi Kasargod

Swift Current, SK - The Swift Current Broncos are pleased to announce the signing of 2008-born defenceman Avi Kasargod to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

The Bloomington, Minnesota product spent the 2025-26 season with Holy Angels Academy (Minnesota High School), recording 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points in 26 games, before making his way to Swift Current ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

“We would like to extend an official warm welcome to Avi and the Kasargod family to the Broncos. Avi has been a tremendous teammate since arriving to Swift Current and cares a lot about his development process. We look forward to playing a part in his hockey journey going forward,” said Broncos General Manager and Head Coach Travis Crickard.

The Broncos are excited to have Kasargod join the organization and look forward to his continued growth and contributions to the team.

The Swift Current Broncos continued their B.C. Division road trip Friday night at the Sandman Centre, falling 4-1 to the Kamloops Blazers.

Swift Current opened the scoring midway through the first period when Stepan Farushev found the back of the net at 9:22. Hyde Davidson and Colton Alain picked up the assists on Farushev's second goal of the season, giving the Broncos an early 1-0 advantage. Kamloops responded at 13:28 of the opening frame when River Arnason scored on the power play to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the first intermission. Despite being outshot 18-8 in the opening frame, the Broncos remained even thanks to several key stops from Conway. The Broncos continued to battle in the second period, with Conway standing tall as Kamloops fired another 17 shots his way. The Blazers eventually broke the deadlock at 14:40 when Mateo Ferreira scored on the power play, giving Kamloops a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes. Kamloops extended its lead early in the third period when Collin Kim scored on the power play at 6:31. Eli Tverdovsky added another goal at 14:07 to round out the scoring. The Blazers finished the night with a 44-21 advantage in shots. Swift Current went 0-for-3 on the power play, while Kamloops capitalized on three of its four opportunities with the man advantage. The faceoff battle was closely contested, with Kamloops holding a narrow 34-32 edge. Despite the final score, Conway delivered an impressive performance between the pipes, making 41 saves on 44 shots and giving the Broncos a chance throughout the night. With the loss, the Broncos move to 4-4-0-0 on the season as they continue their B.C. Division road trip.

Broncos Fall to Rockets in Kelowna

The Swift Current Broncos wrapped up their visit to Prospera Place on Wednesday night, falling 10-2 to the Kelowna Rockets in the fourth game of their B.C. Division road trip.

Kelowna opened the scoring at 6:49 of the first period when Rowan Guest found the back of the net. Owen Folstrom doubled the Rockets' lead just over a minute later, but the Broncos responded on the power play at 10:35. Zach Pantelakis scored his fourth goal of the season, with Kayd Ruedig and Carter Moen picking up the assists, cutting the deficit to 2-1. The Rockets answered with three more goals before the end of the opening frame, as Cole Braunshausen, former Bronco Dawson Gerwing and Madden Daneault extended Kelowna's lead to 5-1 after 20 minutes. Archer Cooke got the start between the pipes for Swift Current, facing 19 shots in the opening period before Cal Conway entered the game in relief to begin the second. Kelowna continued to build momentum in the second period, adding three goals to take an 8-1 lead into the final frame. Despite facing a difficult deficit, the Broncos continued to compete in the third period and were rewarded late in the game. Oliver Torkki scored his second goal of the season at 14:37, with Jacob Beaulieu and goaltender Cal Conway picking up the assists. Conway's assist added another contribution to the scoresheet, while Torkki continued to make an impact during his first WHL season. The Rockets outshot the Broncos 42-15 on the night, including a 19-5 advantage in the opening period. Swift Current registered five shots in each period, while Kelowna recorded 19 in the first, 10 in the second and 13 in the third. The Broncos finished 1-for-3 on the power play, while the Rockets converted twice on four opportunities. Kelowna also held a narrow 39-33 advantage in the faceoff circle. The Swift Current Broncos are seeking an outgoing, personable, and community-minded Sales Associate to join our business operations team.

This is not a desk-based sales position. We are looking for someone who enjoys meeting people, building relationships and getting out into the community. The successful candidate will spend a significant amount of their time visiting businesses throughout Swift Current and Southwest Saskatchewan, developing new relationships and identifying opportunities to grow revenue for the Broncos.

Key Responsibilities

The Sales Associate will primarily be responsible for generating new business through face-to-face sales and relationship building, including:

Visiting businesses throughout Swift Current and the surrounding area to introduce the Broncos and identify potential partnership opportunities.
Selling Corporate Partnerships, sponsorship packages, ticket packages, group experiences and other Broncos products and opportunities.
Developing relationships with new and existing businesses throughout Southwest Saskatchewan.
Identifying prospective corporate partners and creating new sales opportunities.
Working with businesses to understand their goals and identify Broncos opportunities that provide value to their organization.
Following up with prospective partners and maintaining strong relationships throughout the sales process.
Working collaboratively with the Broncos' business operations team to develop creative partnership and revenue-generating opportunities.
Representing the Swift Current Broncos professionally and positively throughout the community.
Maintaining accurate records of sales activity, prospects and follow-up opportunities.
Supporting other revenue-generating initiatives as required.

Broncos Rally for Historic Shootout Win in Penticton

The Swift Current Broncos made their first-ever trip to Penticton a memorable one, rallying late before defeating the Penticton Vees 3-2 in a shootout at the South Okanagan Events Centre. The victory came in just the second meeting all-time between the two clubs and improved the Broncos to 4-2-0-0 on the season.

Swift Current wasted little time opening the scoring, as Carter Moen found the back of the net just 49 seconds into the game. Yuri Vlasenko picked up the lone assist on Moen’s second goal of the season, giving the Broncos a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes. Penticton came out with plenty of pressure in the second period and tied the game just 16 seconds into the frame when Graham Jones scored on a 5-on-3 power play. Gavin Katz then gave the Vees their first lead of the night at 9:07. The Broncos faced sustained pressure throughout the second, with Penticton outshooting Swift Current 19-12 in the period. Swift Current stayed strong defensively, while Cal Conway stood tall between the pipes to keep the Broncos within one heading into the third. The Broncos pushed back in the final frame and, with time running out, Moen came through again. Hudson Kibblewhite and Zach Pantelakis set up Moen on the power play with just 1:27 remaining in regulation, as his second goal of the night tied the game at 2-2 and forced overtime. Swift Current carried the momentum into the extra frame, outshooting Penticton 5-2, but neither side could find the winner, sending the game to a shootout. Kayd Ruedig provided the difference for the Broncos, scoring in the shootout to help secure the 3-2 victory. Swift Current finished the night with 34 shots on goal compared to Penticton’s 38 and went 1-for-7 on the power play. Conway was outstanding between the pipes, turning aside 36 of 38 shots and coming up with several massive stops throughout the night. His performance was highlighted by an incredible stop that could very well be a Save of the Year candidate, helping the Broncos weather Penticton’s pressure and stay within striking distance. With the victory, the Broncos improve to 4-2-0-0 on the season and earn a win in their first-ever game in Penticton. The Broncos are right back in action tomorrow night as they continue their B.C. Division road trip against the Kelowna Rockets at Prospera Place. Puck drop is set for 8:05 p.m. CST.

Broncos Cruise to 5-1 Victory Over Giants

The Swift Current Broncos picked up a convincing 5-1 victory over the Vancouver Giants on Saturday night at the Langley Events Centre, earning their first win of their B.C. Division road trip.

Vancouver opened the scoring at 7:09 of the first period when Tobias Tomik scored shorthanded to give the Giants an early 1-0 advantage. The lead lasted just 1:37 as the Broncos answered at 8:46. Hudson Kibblewhite scored his first goal of the season, with Hyde Davidson and Sawyer Dingman picking up the assists, to tie the game at one. Swift Current took the lead later in the opening period. Kayd Ruedig scored his third goal of the season at 16:40, finishing a setup from Oliver Torkki and Carter Moen to give the Broncos a 2-1 advantage. Ruedig's goal would stand as the game-winner. Vancouver outshot Swift Current 14-12 in the opening period, but the Broncos carried a one-goal lead into the intermission. The Broncos added to their lead at 6:47 of the second period when Zach Pantelakis scored his third of the season. Parker Rondeau and Stepan Farushev collected the assists as Swift Current extended its advantage to 3-1. Despite being outshot 9-4 in the second period, the Broncos held Vancouver off the scoresheet and took their two-goal advantage into the third. Swift Current continued to pull away in the final frame. Carter Moen scored his first of the season at 10:59, with Kibblewhite and Colton Alain assisting, to make it 4-1. The Broncos put the finishing touches on the victory at 16:40 when Rondeau scored his second of the season into an empty net. Farushev picked up his second assist of the night on the goal to make it a 5-1 final. Swift Current controlled much of the third period, outshooting Vancouver 12-5. The two teams finished even at 28 shots apiece, with the Broncos holding the Giants to just five shots over the final 20 minutes. Neither team was able to capitalize on the power play, with both Swift Current and Vancouver finishing 0-for-3. The Giants held the advantage in the faceoff circle, winning 32 draws compared to 25 for the Broncos. Cal Conway was strong between the pipes for Swift Current, turning aside 28 of the 29 shots he faced to help the Broncos secure the victory. With the win, the Broncos improve to 3-2-0-0 on the season and continue their B.C. Division road trip Tuesday night against the Penticton Vees at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Broncos Battle Back, Fall 5-4 to Royals in Victoria

Despite the result, the Swift Current Broncos put together a strong effort Friday night, battling back from a three-goal deficit before ultimately falling 5-4 to the Victoria Royals at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Victoria opened the scoring 4:30 into the first period when Odin Vauhkonen scored on the power play. The Royals doubled their lead on another power play at 12:08 when Filip Novak found the back of the net, giving Victoria a 2-0 advantage through 20 minutes. Swift Current got on the board 7:23 into the second period when Kayd Ruedig scored his first of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1. Victoria answered just 53 seconds later as Cameron Schmidt restored the Royals' two-goal advantage. Wyatt Danyleyko then scored at 9:09 to make it 4-1 Victoria. The Broncos responded with two goals before the end of the period. Jacob Beaulieu scored his second of the season at 11:24 off a feed from Hudson Kibblewhite to make it 4-2. Trae Wilke brought Swift Current within one at 16:56, scoring his second of the season with assists from Yuri Vlasenko and Jace McFaul. The Broncos headed into the second intermission trailing 4-3 after scoring three times in the middle frame. Swift Current completed the comeback just 3:33 into the third period. Ruedig scored his second of the night, assisted by Beaulieu and Sawyer Dingman, to tie the game at four. The two-goal performance earned Ruedig second-star honours. The tie held until 9:50, when Schmidt scored on the power play to put Victoria back in front 5-4. The goal stood as the game-winner as the Broncos were unable to find another equalizer.

The Broncos continued to push for the equalizer and were given a late power-play opportunity. Swift Current pulled the goaltender for an extra attacker, creating a 6-on-4 advantage and generating several good chances around the Victoria net. Despite the late pressure, the Broncos couldn't find the back of the net as the Royals held on for the 5-4 victory.

Despite the loss, Swift Current put together a strong performance against Victoria, battling back from a 4-1 deficit and pushing the Royals until the final buzzer. Victoria outshot Swift Current 29-23 and finished 3-for-6 on the power play, while the Broncos went 0-for-3 with the man advantage. The Broncos are now 2-2-0-0 on the season and continue their B.C. Division road trip on Saturday, October 3 against the Vancouver Giants.
