2026 WHL Graduates: Swift Current Broncos
The Western Hockey League is celebrating the WHL Graduates from the 2025-26 season in a 23-part, team-by-team series.
Today, we bid farewell to a trio of departing Swift Current Broncos.
Trae Johnson (F)
Hometown: Martensville, Sask.
WHL Career Stats: 281 GP – 23 G–42 A – 65 points
WHL Draft: 2020 – Second Round, 35th Overall (Brandon Wheat Kings)
Trae Johnson took a unique path through the WHL, ultimately closing out his career in his home province.
The Martensville, Sask. product broke into the league with the Brandon Wheat Kings on October 1, 2020.
He logged 63 games in his rookie campaign, picking up three goals and four assists along the way.
Johnson had nearly doubled his output in Year 2 with six points (2G-4A) in 37 outings when the Kelowna Rockets came calling in search of a skilled forward.
The 6-foot-1, 177-pound pivot made tracks for the Okanagan at the 2023 WHL Trade Deadline and earned another six points (2G-4A) and 131 faceoff wins in 30 contests.
He upped his numbers with a 13-point (3G-10A) run with the Rockets in 2023-24, which also saw the squad reach the second round of the 2024 WHL Playoffs.
Johnson’s most productive campaign came in 2024-25 when he was acquired by the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
Not only did Johnson chip in a career-best 20 points (7G-13A), the Canes also went 42-21-3-2 and battled all the way to the 2025 Eastern Conference Championship, with Johnson adding two goals and three helpers along the way.
With roster spots for overagers hard to come by, the veteran began 2025-26 in the BCHL.
By February, home was calling.
The Broncos added Johnson to their roster on January 9, 2026, and he made his Broncos debut that very night against the Prince Albert Raiders.
His final lap saw him pick up 13 points (6G-7A) in 26 contests, truly saving the best for last with the game-winning goal and two assists in his final WHL game- a 4-1 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors.
Johnson graduates from major junior hockey with 23 goals and 42 assists for 65 points in 281 regular-season games played.
Marek Rocak (D)
Hometown: Valasske Klobouky, Cze.
WHL Career Stats: 164 GP – 15 G – 66 A – 81 points
WHL Draft: Import — 2022 – First Round, 43rd Overall (Kelowna Rockets)
Marek Rocak’s time in North America saw him win a major medal for his home country and tour two of the league’s most storied franchises.
The 5-foot-10, 182-pound defender hopped the pond from Czechia to join the up-and-coming Kelowna Rockets in 2022-23.
Rocak made his debut on January 6, 2023, logging seven points (1G-6A) in 24 games in his rookie season.
His first full campaign would be his most fruitful, with the import star putting up eight goals and 29 assists for 37 points in all 68 games, along with his future Broncos teammate Trae Johnson, and adding four points (2G-2A) in two rounds of the 2024 WHL Playoffs.
2024-25 marked a change of address, as Rocak joined the Broncos’ stable of defencemen, and a major medal as he was named to Czechia for the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship.
While he didn’t see game action, Rocak skated with the squad throughout the prestigious tournament and won a bronze medal.
Post-World Juniors, he put up three goals and 10 assists in 29 matches with the Broncos.
His final WHL campaign saw him named an alternate captain and get off to a promising start with a goal and two assists in his first four games.
But a fairy-tale finish wasn’t in the cards.
A nagging knee injury limited Rocak to 16 games in 2025-26, though he did manage to return to the lineup in late February.
Rocak wraps up his time in the WHL with 81 points (15G-66A) in 164 games over parts of four seasons.
Anthony Wilson (F)
Hometown: Swift Current, Sask.
WHL Career Stats: 300 GP – 47 G – 65 A – 112 points
WHL Draft: 2020 – Third Round, 59th Overall (Victoria Royals)
Anthony Wilson’s time in major junior saw him suit up for the WHL’s most Western club, its most Eastern club, and finally his hometown team.
Drafted by the Victoria Royals in the third round of the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft, Wilson scored in his second-ever WHL game- a 6-3 win over the Kelowna Rockets on October 8, 2021.
Wilson carved out 15 points (7G-8A) in 63 games in his rookie season on a team that also featured his older brother, defenceman Wyatt Wilson.
Early on in his sophomore season, he journeyed east to Manitoba as a key piece in a major trade with the Brandon Wheat Kings.
Wilson would spend parts of two seasons from 2022-23 with the Wheaties, picking up 21 points (7G-14A) in 56 outings.
His next stop saw him land back in his home province with the Regina Pats, where his heavy style of play proved useful for a team adjusting to post-Connor Bedard life.
Wilson logged 17 points (7G-10A) and 54 penalty minutes in 46 games in the Queen City in 2023-24, and got off to a hot start with two goals in four games to start 2024-25.
The 5-foot-10, 194-pound winger quickly found a new home in Lethbridge, crossing paths with Johnson, where he added seven points (2G-7A) in 29 games in a middle-six role.
He scored the game-winning goal against the Wheat Kings in Game 1 of their first-round series in the 2025 WHL Playoffs and ended up with three goals in Lethbridge’s trip to the Eastern Conference Championship.
Wilson’s final season saw him win a berth as an overage player on his hometown team and skate to a career-best 15 goals and 23 assists for 38 points in 61 games.
He got some revenge against a former club with a goal and an assist against the Regina Pats to hit 100 career points on January 31, 2026, and lit the lamp in his 300th and final WHL game against the Moose Jaw Warriors.
Wilson is one of 11 graduating WHLers who have hit the 300 games-played mark and is moving on with 112 career points (47G-65A).
He’s expected to reunite with his brother, Wyatt, as he joins the University of Calgary Dinos for 2026-26.
