[{"id":36481,"date":"2026-08-18T15:08:25","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T19:08:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chl.ca\/whl-blazers\/?p=36481"},"modified":"2026-08-18T15:08:25","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T19:08:25","slug":"2026-whl-graduates-kamloops-blazers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chl.ca\/whl-blazers\/article\/2026-whl-graduates-kamloops-blazers","title":{"rendered":"2026 WHL Graduates: Kamloops Blazers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Over the month of August, the Western Hockey League will be celebrating the WHL Graduates from the 2025-26 season in a 23-part, team-by-team series.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Today, we continue with the graduating trio from the Kamloops Blazers<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p data-start=\"256\" data-end=\"277\"><strong data-start=\"256\" data-end=\"277\">Jordan Keller (F)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"279\" data-end=\"433\"><strong data-start=\"279\" data-end=\"292\">Hometown:<\/strong> Kamloops, B.C.<br data-start=\"307\" data-end=\"310\" \/><strong data-start=\"310\" data-end=\"331\">WHL Career Stats:<\/strong> 264 GP \u2013 94 G-108 A \u2013 202 points<br data-start=\"364\" data-end=\"367\" \/><strong data-start=\"367\" data-end=\"381\">WHL Draft:<\/strong> 2020 \u2013 Third Round, 48th Overall (Saskatoon Blades)<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"435\" data-end=\"513\">For Jordan Keller, the phrase &#8216;all roads lead home&#8217; couldn&#8217;t be more true.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"515\" data-end=\"818\">After a junior hockey career that spanned parts of five seasons across two Clubs, the 21-year-old is exiting the Western League as a member of his hometown club, the Kamloops Blazers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"515\" data-end=\"818\">But, despite ending his campaign with Kamloops, Keller&#8217;s career first began two provinces over.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"515\" data-end=\"818\">Keller was originally selected 48th overall by the Saskatoon Blades in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft, making his WHL debut don December 4, 2021 against the Winnipeg ICE. In total, Keller spent the two-plus seasons as a member of the Blades, including a 30-point campaign in 66 games during the 2022-23 WHL Season.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"820\" data-end=\"1134\">On November 24, 2023, Keller was sent to the Kamloops Blazers as part of the blockbuster trade that saw Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten move to Saskatoon. Eager to play in front of his hometown, Keller made his Blazers debut one day after being acquired by Kamloops. The forward also scooped up his first point with the Blazers in the same outing, assisting on a goal in a 6-3 victory over the Vancouver Giants.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1188\" data-end=\"1469\">Keller went on to record 43 points (17 G-26 A) to round out the 2023-24 season with the Blazers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1188\" data-end=\"1469\">And, while impressive, the hometown forward was just getting started.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1188\" data-end=\"1469\">In his first full campaign with Kamloops, Keller set a career high in goals (31), assists (34), and points (65). The forward also led the WHL in power-play goals in the same season, collecting 19 tucks on the &#8216;man advantage.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1471\" data-end=\"1678\">Keller&#8217;s final WHL campaign followed a similar tune, as the British Columbian recorded his third consecutive 50-plus point season. In 53 regular season appearances Keller racked up 55 points (27 G-28 A), boasting a points-per-game average of over one for the first time his in junior hockey career.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1680\" data-end=\"1823\">Keller closes out his WHL career with 202 points (94 G-108 A) in 264 regular season games, including more than 150 points in a Blazers uniform.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1960\" data-end=\"1980\"><strong data-start=\"1960\" data-end=\"1980\">Ryan Michael (D)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1982\" data-end=\"2133\"><strong data-start=\"1982\" data-end=\"1995\">Hometown:<\/strong> Langley, B.C.<br data-start=\"2009\" data-end=\"2012\" \/><strong data-start=\"2012\" data-end=\"2033\">WHL Career Stats:<\/strong> 231 GP \u2013 10 G-72 A \u2013 82 points<br data-start=\"2064\" data-end=\"2067\" \/><strong data-start=\"2067\" data-end=\"2081\">WHL Draft:<\/strong> 2020 \u2013 Third Round, 62nd Overall (Kamloops Blazers)<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2265\" data-end=\"2628\">For the first time in five seasons, the Kamloops Blazers will dress a blueline that will be without longtime defenceman, Ryan Michael.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2265\" data-end=\"2628\">The 2005-born defenceman is departing from the Western Hockey League having completed his 20-year-old season in Kamloops.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2265\" data-end=\"2628\">Originally selected 62nd overall by the Kamloops Blazers in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft, Michael first made his WHL debut on October 2, 2021 \u2013 recording as assist against the Prince George Cougars.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2265\" data-end=\"2628\">The Langley, B.C., product continued his hot streak in his first full season, leading all Blazers rookies in points with 12 (3 G-9 A) in 60 regular season games<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2630\" data-end=\"2865\">Michael continued to develop his game over the next two seasons, becoming a key part of the Blazers\u2019 blue line and leadership group. After serving as the Club&#8217;s alternate captain for two seasons,\u00a0Michael&#8217;s farewell campaign was further celebrated by his promotion to team captain for the 2025-26 season..<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3054\" data-end=\"3107\">And, the newly-minted captain responded with a career year offensively.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3109\" data-end=\"3254\">Michael registered a career-best three goals, 31 assists, and 34 points in 67 regular season appearances, leading all Kamloops defencemen in scoring for the\u00a0the 2025-26 campaign.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3514\" data-end=\"3635\">In total, Michael suited up with the Blazers on 231 occasions, closing out his WHL career with an impressive 82 points (10 G-72 A).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3771\" data-end=\"3793\"><strong data-start=\"3771\" data-end=\"3793\">Rhett Ravndahl (D)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3795\" data-end=\"3955\"><strong data-start=\"3795\" data-end=\"3808\">Hometown:<\/strong> Birch Hills, Sask.<br data-start=\"3827\" data-end=\"3830\" \/><strong data-start=\"3830\" data-end=\"3851\">WHL Career Stats:<\/strong> 199 GP \u2013 9 G-29 A \u2013 38 points<br data-start=\"3881\" data-end=\"3884\" \/><strong data-start=\"3884\" data-end=\"3898\">WHL Draft:<\/strong> 2020 \u2013 Fourth Round, 83rd Overall (Portland Winterhawks)<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3957\" data-end=\"4045\">The Western League will miss you, Rhett!<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4047\" data-end=\"4325\">After hearing his named called in the fourth round of the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft by the Portland Winterhawks, the Birch Hills, Sask., product didn&#8217;t wait long before stapling himself into the WHL scene. The blueliner made his WHL debut with the Winterhawks on September 24, 2022, against the Kelowna Rockets \u2013 and collected his first career point, an assist, just one game later.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4047\" data-end=\"4325\">Ravndahl spent parts of two seasons in Portland, before being acquired by the Brandon Wheat Kings at the 2024 WHL Trade Deadline. The move saw Ravndahl swap spots with former Wheat Kings captain and Detroit Red Wings first-round selection Nate Danielson.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4047\" data-end=\"4325\">In a similar fashion to his time in Portland, Ravndahl called Brandon home for parts of two seasons. In 57 appearances with the &#8216;Wheaties,&#8217; the Saskatchewan-born talent collected nine points (3 G-6 A).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4047\" data-end=\"4325\">On January 7, 2025, Ravndahl was involved in a second trade. This time, the blueliner packed his bags and joined the B.C. Division&#8217;s Kamloops Blazers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4047\" data-end=\"4325\">It was in Kamloops where the veteran blueliner got the opportunity to step into a larger role with his organization, as he posted a career-best four goals, 12 assists, and 16 points in 55 regular season outings. data-word=\"56.48:13.99:14.29\">hockey.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Especially at the end, it gets a little heated. It gets competitive when the scores are close. It&#8217;s always a blast.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>More than a dozen Silvertips players came out for the 2025 edition of the game in November- a special chance to battle some of the NHL&#8217;s stars of tomorrow in a breakout season that saw the Blazers return to the WHL Playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s so much fun playing the Blazers at floorball; they made us compete very hard,&#8221; Silvertips player Shinji said. &#8220;I get to watch them every game, so playing together is a highlight for me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We look up to them, and it meant a lot to play with them and feel included,&#8221; Shinji&#8217;s teammate, Stuart, added. &#8220;They were kind and made us feel special.\u00a0 It was a really great day that we will always remember.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Moments like this mean so much to our athletes \u2014 sharing the floor with their heroes builds confidence, joy, and a sense of belonging that stays with them long after the game ends.&#8221; Silvertips coach Genevieve said. &#8220;As coaches, it\u2019s incredibly rewarding to witness the smiles, excitement, and pride this experience brings.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re grateful to be able to share this special tradition together year after year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Long promoted as the tournament capital of Canada, Kamloops has previously hosted the 2023 Special Olympics B.C. Winter Games, which saw roughly 500 athletes competing in eight events.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond floor hockey, many of the local Special Olympics athletes also take part in sports like softball, soccer, golf, swimming, bowling, basketball and rhythmic gymnastics.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em>The Western Hockey League strives to promote and foster a welcoming environment in communities close to our 23 clubs in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest. Every team has the creative freedom to allow their players and staff to work with the organizations and groups that they are most passionate about. Hailing from Cota de Caza, Calif., Burcar also dressed in four playoff games for the Chiefs. He made his WHL debut September 19, 2025, registering one assist in an 8-2 victory at Kelowna. Burcar recorded a career-high three points (1G-2A) December 16, 2025, in a 9-2 home triumph over Portland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;text-align: justify\"><strong>Brooks DeMars, Penticton Vees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;text-align: justify\">The 6-foot-1, 183-pound product of Hugo, Minn., dressed in 50 games for the Penticton Vees during the 2025-26 campaign, collecting 13 points (6G-7A) along the way. <a href=\"https:\/\/chl.ca\/whl\/players\/30122\/\">DeMars<\/a> also saw action in five post-season contests for the Vees, who claimed the WHL\u2019s B.C. Division title as an expansion team. DeMars made his WHL debut September 19, 2025, at Victoria. The native of Minot, N.D., signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Wheat Kings on April 17, 2026, and is expected to join the Club for the 2026-27 season. Grubb spent the 2025-26 campaign with Shattuck St. Mary\u2019s 18U Prep, registering 40 points (13G-27A) in 51 high school games.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;text-align: justify\"><strong>Kaeden Tate, Kamloops Blazers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;text-align: justify\">The 6-foot-3, 165-pound <a href=\"https:\/\/chl.ca\/whl\/players\/30405\/\">Tate<\/a>, appeared in two games with the Kamloops Blazers during the 2025-26 season, going 2-0-0-0 with a 2.51 goals-against average and .919 save percentage. A native of Huntington Beach, Calif., Tate was selected by the Blazers in the second round (23rd overall) of the 2024 WHL U.S. Priority Draft. He signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Blazers on September 9, 2025. We are confident this staff will create an environment that allows our players to succeed and proudly represent Canada as we prepare for the World Juniors.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lauer is coming off his second season as Head Coach of the Spokane Chiefs.<\/p>\n<p>The 59-year-old coached Spokane to the 2025 WHL Championship Series and previously coached the Edmonton Oil Kings from 2018-22, winning the Ed Chynoweth Cup in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>He also spent seven seasons as an assistant coach with the Kootenay ICE (2002-07), in addition to NHL pit stops with the Winnipeg Jets (2022-24), Tampa Bay Lightning (2015-18), Anaheim Ducks (2012-15) and Ottawa Senators (2009-11).<\/p>\n<p>Getzlaf, 41, is gearing up for his inaugural appearance as an international coach after taking on management roles with Hockey Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics and 2025 IIHF World Championship.<\/p>\n<p>The Anaheim Ducks all-time point leader recorded 1,019 points (282G-737A) in 1,157 games over 17 seasons, capturing the 2007 Stanley Cup in addition to gold medals at the 2010 and 2014 Olympic Games and 2005 IIHF World Junior Championship.<\/p>\n<p>He was originally selected by the Calgary Hitmen with the 54th overall pick in the 2000 WHL Bantam Draft and piled up 95 goals and 120 assists for 215 points in 233 regular-season games for Calgary.<\/p>\n<p>De Palma, 54, is gearing up for his 20th season with his hometown Blazers.<\/p>\n<p>He previously worked as the goaltending coach for the Prince George Cougars (2006-09) and brings plenty of international experience after working with Canada for two World Junior Championships (2025, 2026), two gold medal-winning turns at the IIHF U18 World Championship (2024, 2025), and a gold at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Filmon recently completed his second season as the Oil Kings&#8217; video coach and will now transition into a full-time role with\u00a0Hockey Canada as the Program of Excellence Manager of Video and Analytics.<\/p>\n<p>He broke into the WHL as the Director of Analytics for the Swift Current Broncos in 2023-24.<\/p>\n<p>Burnstein joined the Vancouver Giants in 2020-21 after 20 seasons as the Vancouver Canucks&#8217; Head Athletic Trainer.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s taken part in five IIHF World Championships, the 2010 Winter Olympics, the 2019 WHL Super Series and two World Junior Championships (2020, 2022).<\/p>\n<p>The road to the 2027 World Juniors begins next week with the World Junior Summer Showcase, which runs from July 26- August 1 in Windsor, Ont.<\/p>\n<p>Canada will face off against Finland, Sweden and the United States.<\/p>\n<p>A camp roster will be unveiled at a later date.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Calgary, Alta.-\u00a0A strong contingent of hockey greats with ties to the WHL will help Canada chase gold at the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship. The Brandon Wheat Kings, Edmonton Oil Kings, Regina Pats, Seattle Thunderbirds, Vancouver Giants and Wenatchee Wild all have two players attending.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The reigning WHL Champion Everett Silvertips, 2026 Memorial Cup host Kelowna Rockets, Medicine Hat Tigers, Moose Jaw Warriors, Penticton Vees, Prince Albert Raiders, Saskatoon Blades, Tri-City Americans and Victoria Royals have one player heading to camp.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Thirteen players appeared in WHL games in the 2025-26 regular season, led by Holowaychuk and Crosby Mateychuk (Vancouver Giants \/ Dominion City, Man.) with seven outings each.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Six-foot-2 forward Kalen Miles (Wenatchee Wild \/ Edmonton, Alta.) notably posted two goals Zachgo was listed by the Blazers in May of 2026 and recently attended the hockey club\u2019s development camp.<\/p>\n<p>Zachgo is from Delta Junction, Alaska and stands at 5\u201911\u201d and 170lbs. He played last season with the Sioux Falls Power 15U team. In 65 games, he led his team in scoring with 35 goals, 42 assists and 77 points.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would like to congratulate Evan and his family on signing with the Kamloops Blazers,\u201d said General Manager \/ Head Coach, Shaun Clouston. \u201cWe are excited to be a part of Evan\u2019s development in the coming seasons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zachgo is the sixth player from the 2010-born age group to sign with the Blazers. He played the 2025-2026 season with the New Hampshire Mountain Kings of the North American Hockey League. He had five goals, 26 assists and 31 points in 56 games.
