The Blazers came out with energy in the first period, as JP Hurlbert nearly opened the scoring with a hard wrist shot before collecting his own rebound, only to be denied by Boettiger. Cooper Moore followed with a high-danger chance of his own, driving to the net and nearly slipping it past Boettiger, who sprawled to make the save.
