PINK POWERPLAY MONTH, HONOURING DORIS RUBEL
Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers will be hosting two weekend games as they launch their third annual Pink Powerplay Breast Cancer Campaign.
There will be a silent auction held for specially designed Reebok Blazers Breast Cancer Ribbon jerseys beginning this weekend. Bids can be placed at all Blazers home games through October or online by emailing Ashley Neuls at [email protected]. Blazers players will wear the jerseys on Pink Powerplay Night on October 28th vs. the Kelowna Rockets and present them to the winning bidders in a “jersey off our back” ceremony. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation will be on site throughout the month at home games selling raffle tickets for a WestJet Flight as well as other Pink Ribbon items.
The Blazers will also honour long-time Billet Coordinator, Doris Rubel, with a special pre-game ceremony introducing a unique “DR” patch that will be worn on the Blazers jerseys throughout the season.
On Friday, October 7th against the Spokane Chiefs at 7:00PM, the Kamloops Girl Guides will be selling their cookies at the game. Also, game sponsor Save-on-Foods will be giving away Thanksgiving turkeys to some lucky fans. The game will also be featured on SHAW-TV.
On Monday, October 10th the Blazers host the Medicine Hat Tigers at 2:00PM. The game is sponsored by Subway and there will be a Subway Chuck-a-Puck to support Habitat for Humanity.
