FERGUSON STOPS 52, BUT BLAZERS FALL 4-2
The Kamloops Blazers spoiled a great performance from goaltender Dylan Ferguson as they fell 4-2 on home ice.
The Hitmen opened the scoring in the first period as Andrew Fyten shot was deflected past Ferguson. The Hitmen led 1-0 and outshot the Blazers 14-7 in the first period.
The Blazers tied the game up seven minutes into the second period. Jackson Shepard was hard on the forecheck and Garrett Pilon made a great pass to Luc Smith for his first of the season.
The Hitmen responded quickly with two goals as Luke Coleman and Jakob Stukel scored to give them a 3-1 lead going into the third period.
The Blazers had two power plays early in the third period, but did not score. The Hitmen got the game’s next goal on a fortunate bounce that hit Hunter Campbell and ended up in the net.
Quinn Benjafield would score a late goal for the Blazers as they fell 4-2.
Nick Schneider stopped 30 of 32 shots and Dylan Ferguson turned aside 52 shots in the loss. Both teams were 0-for-5 on the power play.
The Blazers will hit the road for four straight games as they are in Prince George for back-to-back games this weekend.
