BLAZERS WEEK IN REVIEW, FEBRUARY 4
Week in Review:
Monday, January 28th, 2013 vs. Kelowna Rockets – 6-5 Win
The Blazers found themselves in a hole, but dug deep and won 6-5 in overtime over their division rivals. Colin Smith tied the game up with 22 seconds left and Chase Souto won it in overtime with 15 seconds remaining. Smith, JC Lipon and Brendan Ranford each had a goal and two assists. Souto, Tim Bozon and Cole Ully each had a goal and an assist. Cole Cheveldave earned the win with 26 saves. Recap and Highlights.
Wednesday, January 30th, 2013 at Portland Winterhawks – 5-2 Loss
A 2-0 Blazers lead diminished in the second period and Nic Petan’s goal midway through the final frame sealed the deal for the ‘Hawks. Dylan Willick and Colin Smith scored first period goals to vault the Blazers to a 2-0 lead. The ‘Hawks tied it in the second and Petan won it in the third. The Winterhawks added a late shorthanded goal and a goal into the empty net to make it a 5-2 final over the Blazers. Recap and Highlights.
Friday, February 1st, 2013 vs. Spokane Chiefs – 7-4 Win
Kale Kessy and Colin Smith each had five-point nights in a 7-4 win over the Spokane Chiefs on home ice. The other member of the line, Tim Bozon had four points on the night while 16-year-old defenseman Jordan Thomson enjoyed his first two-point night of his WHL career. Cole Cheveldave went the distance with 24 saves in goal. Recap and Highlights.
Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 at Everett Silvertips – 3-2 Win
The Blazers finished a tough week gritting out a shootout victory over the Everett Silvertips. Colin Smith and JC Lipon scored first period goals, while the ‘Tips tied it up at 2-2 midway through the second period. The Blazers had a ton of chances to end it in the third including Cole Ully hitting two goal posts. Lipon scored the only goal of the shootout to preserve the win. Cole Cheveldave went the distance again making 28 saves and stopping four more shooters in the shootout. Recap and Highlights.
Colin Smith Named WHL Player of the Week
For the third time this season Blazers’ forward Colin Smith has been named the WHL Player of the Week. Smith had 10 points in four games this past week including a five-point outing in a 7-4 win over the Spokane Chiefs. Follow this link for more on Smith.
Smith, Bozon and Lipon all reach Career Highs
It has been a terrific year for many players that have already achieved new career high totals. Colin Smith leads the way with 36 goals, 50 assists and 86 points playing in all 55 games this season. Smith has eclipsed his career high in goals and points set last year with 35 goals and 85 points. Smith also is the Blazers iron man playing in 247 consecutive games. He currently sits third in WHL scoring and is looking to become the first Blazer to eclipse 100 points since Erik Christensen in 2002-03.
Tim Bozon and JC Lipon are also enjoying career years. Bozon has 72 points which eclipses last year’s total of 71. Lipon has 27 goals and 70 points which surpasses his previous career highs of 19 goals and 65 points set last season.
Others who have reached career highs in points this season include Chase Souto, Cole Ully, Sam Grist, Kale Kessy, and Landon Cross.
Billet Mom Appreciation Night, Cooper’s Shoot to Win
The Kamloops Blazers will be thanking all of the Billet Mom’s for their hard work this Thursday on the ice prior the game versus Everett. Home Depot is the game night sponsor and 4,000 noisemakers will be given out at the front doors.
Saturday night versus Red Deer is ‘Cooper’s Shoot to Win’ night. A few lucky fans will have the chance to win $500 in groceries.
Blazers at Sahali Safeway
Select Blazer players will be at Sahali Safeway location this Tuesday from 5:30pm – 7:00pm. They will be greeting customers and helping them with their groceries

Bowl for Kids’ Sake
The Blazers are participating in the Bowl for Kids’ Sake event sponsored by Canadian Western Bank and benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kamloops & Region. Pledges will be taken at the Blazers Corner Store from Thursday, February 7th-Thursday, February 21st. Pledges will also be taken at Save On Foods on Monday, February 18th from 5:00pm-6:30pm. Blazers to spend Family Day at Red Robin
The Kamloops Blazers players will be at Red Robin in Kamloops this holiday Monday, February 11th to interact with fans during Family Day.
Half of the team will be there during the lunch hour between 11:00am – 12:30pm. The rest of the players will be at the restaurant from 5:30pm – 7:00pm.
Kamloops Blazers Hockey School August 2013
The 2013 Kamloops Blazers Hockey School is now open for registration! Hockey School will be held from August 12th – 16th with the Blazers coaching staff, current and former players instructing.

Blazers Honourable Mentions in the BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10
The Blazers are dropped to honour mentions in the latest BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10 with a 35-15-2-3 record. The hockey club had been in the rankings for virtually the entire season until last week. To view the current rankings, follow this link.
