The Kamloops Blazers will be welcoming a familiar face back into the lineup this weekend. Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Harrison Brunicke was reassigned to Kamloops on Wednesday morning following the World Juniors.
Brunicke recently represented Canada at the World Juniors in Minnesota, where he helped the team capture a Bronze medal, posting two points in 7 games.
Brunicke appeared in 9 NHL games with the Penguins after making the team out of training camp, registering one goal in that frame. The 19-year-old last played an NHL game on November 3rd against the Toronto Maple Leafs and subsequently sat in the press box until he was assigned to the Penguins’ AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. During the conditioning assignment, Brunicke tallied four assists in five games in the AHL.
The Johannesburg native hasn’t appeared in a Blazers game since March 22, 2025. During the 2024-25 season, Brunicke tallied five goals and 30 points in 41 games. Throughout his time in the blue and orange, Brunicke has posted 19 goals and 40 assists for 59 points in 151 career games.
Brunicke joins a buzzing Blazers team that is highlighted by J.P. Hurlbert, Nathan Behm, Tommy Lafreinere and more. Kamloops is currently 4th in the Western Conference with a 18-13-3-4 record.
The Blazers will be in action this weekend against the Penticton Vees, Friday in Penticton and Saturday at the Sandman Centre.
