GAME 67 PREVIEW | Blades welcome 10,000+ for Fan Appreciation Night at SaskTel Centre
WHL REGULAR SEASON | GAME 67 | Saskatoon Blades (37-22-3-4) vs Prince Albert Raiders (37-23-5-1)
|
From the stakes, attendance, and everything in between, no game this season has been bigger than tonight’s at SaskTel Centre!
Join us for Fan Appreciation Night powered by Go Merlin Ford Lincoln on Friday, March 21 as the Blades host their Highway 11 rival Prince Albert Raiders at 7:00pm. The Blue and Gold have a chance to secure a second consecutive East Division banner, but they need Blade City’s help to do it! More than 10,000 fans are expected for tonight’s contest, so make sure to arrive early when doors open at 6:00pm. If the Blades defeat the Raiders in regulation, and the Wheat Kings lose in any capacity to the Regina Pats, the East Division banner is staying in Saskatoon.
Celebrate a season that featured the next wave of Blades taking the reigns into the future. There’s plenty to look forward to at the game outside of the action taking place on the ice!

Tonight
The Saskatoon Blades (37-22-3-4) have a chance to win a second straight East Division banner when they welcome the Prince Albert Raiders (37-23-5-1) to SaskTel Centre. There are several scenarios required for the Blades to walk home with first place in the division. If the Blades win in regulation tonight, and the Brandon Wheat Kings lose in any fashion against the Regina Pats, the Blades will secure home-ice advantage for Round 1 of the playoffs. The Blades have won three straight games and six of their last seven. Saskatoon’s latest victory came Wednesday at Westoba Place against Brandon in 3-1 fashion. It’s the seventh of eight meetings against the Raiders this season, both teams with three wins to their name.
Who to Watch
NHL draft-eligible winger David Lewandowski netted a pair of goals in Wednesday’s victory over Brandon. The Dusseldorf, GER native opened the scoring midway through the night and sealed the deal with an empty-net goal in the third period. Lewandowski is on a five-game point streak with four goals and three assists in that span. The 17-year-old forward is second in rookie scoring on the team with 37 points (14G, 23A) in 50 games.
Alternate captain Rowan Calvert scored in his 200th career WHL game on Wednesday in Brandon. The third-year Blade scored his fifth game-winning goal of the year in the third, tying him for the team-high alongside Tyler Parr. Calvert’s 24 goals, 28 assists and 52 points in 62 games are all career highs.
Sophomore goalie Evan Gardner signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. The 18-year-old netminder drafted by the Jackets in the second round (60th overall) at the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. The reigning WHL Goaltender of the Week is 5-0 since returning from a lower-body injury on March 5. In that span, Gardner’s posted two shutouts and a .963 save percentage.
