The Saskatoon Blades (32-25-4-2) look to improve to 3-0 in March when the Swift Current Broncos (13-42-4-5) visit SaskTel Centre for the NexGen game. Saskatoon won the first game of the month 3-2 at home against the Red Deer Rebels on March 4, followed by a 5-2 win on home soil last Friday against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Tonight is the first half of a weekend home-and-home series between the East Division combatants. The Blades are 5-0-1-0 in the eight-game season series, outscoring the visitors 24-15.

The Blades sit sixth place in the Eastern Conference with 70 points. Ahead of them in fifth place is the Brandon Wheat Kings with 77 points. With five games remaining in the Blades’ season, there’s work to be done to try and close the gap and overtake Brandon. The Wheat Kings also have five games remaining, including one against the Blades at SaskTel Centre on March 18. Saskatoon is locked in to either fourth, fifth, or sixth place to finish the regular season.

20-year-old alternate captain Rowan Calvert scored his second hat-trick of the season in the win against Moose Jaw. The performance helped the Moose Jaw, SK native reach the 30-goal milestone for the first time in his 265-game career. Calvert’s first hat-trick of his career came Dec. 13, 2025 in his hometown. The 6-foot winger leads the Blades in goals. Calvert’s lit the lamp 15 times on the man-advantage this season, tied for the third most in the league. In his final WHL season, Calvert has 48 points (30G, 18A) in 63 games.
Gardfather
Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Evan Gardner set a new career high in wins last Friday after a 14-performance against the Warriors. The 2006-born netminder is 24-15-3-2 with a .905 save percentage, 2.92 goals against average, and three shutouts.

Edmonton Oilers draft pick David Lewandowski leads the team in scoring with 16 goals and 44 assists for 60 points in 52 games. Calvert has the most goals on the team at 30 and a team-leading 15 coming on the man-advantage. Second-year defenceman Jordan Martin and forward Hayden Harsanyi own the best +/- at +9. Gardner has a 24-15-3-2 record between the pipes with a .905 SV%, 2.94 GAA, and three shutouts.
