The Saskatoon Blades (4-1-0-0) hope to give their Yeti a victory over the Everett Silvertips for the first time since Oct. 14, 2011. The Blades have lost ten straight meetings against the visitors and haven’t beat them at home since Dec. 10, 2010.
Tonight’s the first opportunity for Blade City to see exceptional status defenceman Landon Dupont in WHL action. The right-handed shot was drafted first overall by the Silvertips at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, and joined Connor Bedard as the only other player to be granted exceptional status to play at 15-years-old.
No undefeated teams remain in the WHL after the Blue and Gold dropped last night’s contest 6-3 at InnovationPlex against the Swift Current Broncos. Saskatoon is tied for first in the Eastern Conference with a 4-1-0-0 record.
Who to Watch
Rookie forward Cooper Williams has points in his first five career WHL games. The Calgary, AB product scored last night vs the Broncos to make it 1-1 in the first period. The 6-foot sniper has three goals and five assists, tying him for first in team scoring alongside alternate captains Rowan Calvert and Tyler Parr, and 19-year-old forward Ben Riche. Williams was drafted by the Blue and Gold in the second round (41st overall) during the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
Sophomore forward William James extended his point streak to four games after a goal and assist in last night’s defeated. The 2006-born winger has three goals and four assists in five games, more than doubling last season’s total in 21 less games.
Rookie defenceman Jordan Martin collected his first point of the season last night on James’ second period goal. The Abbotsford, BC product has six shots and sits +1 through the first five games of the season.
