The Saskatoon Blades (30-20-3-4) look to move one step closer to clinching a WHL playoff berth as they welcome the Edmonton Oil Kings (33-22-2-2) to SaskTel Centre.
The magic number for the Blue and Gold is seven points, either earned by themselves, or lost by the Red Deer Rebels. The Blades are third place in the East Division with 67 points, two back of the second-place Brandon Wheat Kings and five behind the division’s top Prince Albert Raiders.
Tonight’s the fourth and final regular season game between the Blades and Oil Kings. Saskatoon leads the season series 2-1, outscoring the Warriors 11-8. The. Blades are coming off a 6-2 loss last night at the Moose Jaw Events Centre against the Moose Jaw Warriors. The Oil Kings had Saturday off in Saskatoon after a win Friday up north against Prince Albert.
Who to Watch
Columbus Blue Jackets draft pick Evan Gardner returned to the Blades lineup last night against Moose Jaw. The sophomore goalie backed up fellow Blades netminder Ethan McCallum after dealing with an injury. Gardner could get his first taste of action today since February 2 against the Warriors.
2007-born defenceman Jordan Martin scored in last night’s game against Moose Jaw. The rookie blueliner has two goals and three assists in his last nine games. Eligible for the 2025 NHL Draft, Martin has five goals and six assists in 54 games this season.
Alternate captain Tyler Parr announced his commitment to the NCAA’s Union College Men’s Hockey team on Monday upon the completion of his WHL eligibility. In 55 games, the 19-year-old winger leads the team in points with 18 goals, 35 assists, and 53 points, all career highs. Parr will begin his NCAA career at the start of the 2026/27 season.
