GAME 57 RECAP | Blades kept at bay in 6-2 loss to Warriors
Moose Jaw, SK – The Saskatoon Blades march to the playoffs hit a roadblock Saturday at the Moose Jaw Events Centre as they lost 6-2 against the Moose Jaw Warriors.
Forward Hunter Laing and defenceman Jordan Martin were the goal scorers for the Blue and Gold. Both men cut a Saskatoon deficit down to one, but the Blades never caught the Warriors who never gave up their lead after the first goal. Moose Jaw’s first tally came curtesy of 20-year-old forward Krzysztof Macias, who went on to score a hat-trick by game’s end.
The Blades have dropped two straight games, yet remain just five points back of the East Division’s top Prince Albert Raiders who have 72 points.
Entering the game on a 12-game winless skid, Macias brought the home crowd alive 9:12 into the game with his 14th goal of the season. Less than three minutes later, NHL draft-eligible forward Lynden Lakovic made it 2-0 Moose Jaw with his 21st goal of the year.
Laing cut the deficit to one before the end of the first period with his 19th goal of the season. The Calgary Flames draft pick used his big 6-foot-6 frame to bury a wrap-around past Warriors goalie Matthew Hutchison. The Kelowna, BC native has 35 points in 55 games, 13 (9G, 4A) coming in 19 games with the Blades.
