The Saskatoon Blades (28-17-3-3) enter InnovationPlex tonight for their sixth meeting of the season against the Swift Current Broncos (27-22-1-1). The Blue and Gold hit the road winners in five of their last six games. Their latest victory came last night on home ice in 6-3 fashion against the Calgary Hitmen. The Blades lead the eight-game season series against Swift Current 3-2, outscoring the Broncos 22-16. 20-year-old defenceman Grayden Siepmann was named first star in the Blades victory last night against Calgary. The pending WHL graduate scored his fourth powerplay goal of the season in the first period and added two assists later in the night. Siepmann leads the Blades defence core in points with seven goals and 31 assists in 51 games. The Langley, BC native also collected his 100th career WHL assist in the win, doing so against his former club.
Rookie forward Cooper Williams picked up a goal and an assist in last night’s win against the Hitmen. The 16-year-old centre leads Saskatoon rookies in points with 16 goals and 22 assists in 51 games. Since the calendar flipped to 2025, Williams has nine goals and six assists in 17 games.
6-foot-4 netminder Ethan McCallum has won five of his last seven starts. The 18-year-old goalie has posted a .920 save percentage and 2.85 goals against average across that span. The man known as “Big Mac” turned aside 39 of 42 shots last night against the Hitmen to pick up his sixth win as a member of the Blades. In 20 games this season, McCallum has a 7-6-0-2 record with a .897 save percentage and 3.29 goals against average.
