The Western Hockey League’s longest-tenured play-by-play broadcaster will be honoured tonight when the Blades welcome the Wenatchee Wild to SaskTel Centre. Season ticket holders can pick up their Les Lazaruk bobblehead at the FEZ ahead of the game. For the general public, the first 1000 fans through the doors will walk home with one for themselves, so make sure to arrive early! Get to your seats prior to puck drop for a special pre-game celebration to honour Lazaruk in his 31st season as the voice of the Blades! Before he hits the airwaves that night, the Winnipeg, MB native will sing both the American and Canadian national anthems!

Tonight
The Saskatoon Blades (23-16-3-3) close out January welcoming the Wenatchee Wild (17-24-3-1) to SaskTel Centre. It’s the lone meeting of the year between the two clubs, and the second in Wenatchee’s history since joining the WHL for the 2023-24 season. The Blades dropped last year’s meeting against the Wild 4-2 south of the border at Town Toyoto Centre.
Tonight is an opportunity for the Blue and Gold to snap a three-game losing skid. Their latest defeat came in 4-3 overtime fashion Sunday at home against the Prince Albert Raiders. Saskatoon sits four points back of the Raiders for first place in the East Division, both with 23 games remaining in the regular season.
Who to Watch
Alternate captain Rowan Calvert potted a pair of powerplay goals Sunday against the Raiders. The Moose Jaw, SK product is tied for the league-lead in powerplay goals with 14. Calvert leads the Blades in goals with 18 and has 20 assists along with it in 41 games this season.
Alternate captain Tyler Parr recorded a goal and two assists in Sunday’s loss against Prince Albert. The 5-foot-11 winger tied the game 3-3 late in the third period to help his team earn a point in overtime. Parr leads the Blades with 44 points (17G, 27A) in 43 games. The La Salle, MB native has a goal and three assists in his last two games.
20-year-old defenceman Grayden Siepmann is expected to skate in his 250th career WHL game tonight. The right-handed shot has 98 games in a Blue and Gold sweater and 151 contests as a member of the Calgary Hitmen. Siepmann is on a five-game point streak with one goal and five assists in that span. The Langley, BC product leads the Blades backend with 34 points (5G, 29A) in 45 games and is two assists away from 100 in his career.
