It’s another Winning Wednesday at SaskTel Centre! If your Saskatoon Blades defeat the Victoria Royals in any fashion, every fan in attendance walks home with a FREE ticket voucher to our next home game! You won’t need to wait long to redeem as the next home game is Friday, Jan. 23 against the Medicine Hat Tigers for Super Cooper Bobblehead Night.
We want to remind fans our Winning Wednesday procedure to receive your free voucher is now completely digital. Fans will NOT be able to redeem a physical copy at the rink or The FEZ.
Tonight’s the only meeting this season between the two clubs. The Bridge City Bunch picked up three of a possible four points in a weekend home-and-home series against the Swift Current Broncos. The Blades won 4-2 on home ice Friday and fell short 4-3 in overtime the next night. Saskatoon trailed 3-0 after the first period and clawed back to earn a point by the end of regulation. The Blades have earned at least a point in three straight meetings against Victoria. Last year was a 5-4 shootout loss in Victoria after back-to-back wins the previous two years.

Martensville, SK native Kazden Mathies has goals in back-to-back games. The 2007-born forward brought the Blades within a goal 1:59 into the third period on Saturday. Mathies has 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points in 42 games, all career highs.
The good guys
NHL Draft-eligible forward Cooper Williams leads the team in scoring with 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points in 40 games. Alternate captain Rowan Calvert has the most goals on the team at 22 and a team-leading 11 coming on the man-advantage. Second-year defenceman Jordan Martin has the best +/- at +10. Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Evan Gardner has a 16-9-2-1 record between the pipes with a .901 SV%, 2.88 GAA, and two shutouts.
