The Blades dived to the pineapple under the sea and found special Spongebob Squarepants jerseys they’ll be wearing for today’s 7:00pm game. Keep an eye out as the jerseys will be auctioned off online soon, with proceeds going towards the Children’s Miracle Network and Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.
RE/MAX Presents: Nickelodeon Nights for Children’s Miracle Network debuted during the 2022-23 WHL Regular Season – a charitable initiative driven by RE/MAX in partnership with Paramount Global, the parent company of global kids and family brand Nickelodeon. The Blades wore special PAW Patrol themed jerseys last season for the initiative.
The Saskatoon Blades (17-6-1-2) conclude their four-game home-stand as they welcome the Calgary Hitmen (13-9-3-1) to SaskTel Centre. The Blades are 2-0-0-1 on their home-stand after a 5-4 shootout loss Wednesday against the Red Deer Rebels. Despite the setback, the Blades are 11-0-1-1 at home and first place in the Eastern Conference with a 17-6-1-2 record. It’s the second meeting of the year between the Blades and Hitmen. The Bridge City Bunch won the first tilt 5-3 at the Scotiabank Saddledome on October 2.
Who to Watch
20-year-old sniper Brandon Lisowsky scored WHL point 250 and 251 of his career after a two-point night Wednesday against the Rebels. The 5-foot-9 winger became the 26th player in franchise history to reach the 250-point plateau after he opened the scoring 16 seconds into the game. Lisowsky’s 13th goal of the year also moved him past hockey hall of famer Bernie Federko on the Blades’ all-time goal scoring list. The Port Coquitlam, BC product is tied for seventh all-time in goals alongside David Struch with 134 in 247 career WHL games. In 20 games this season, Lisowsky is tied for second on the team in points with 26 (13G, 13A) alongside alternate captains Tyler Parr and Rowan Calvert.
NHL draft-eligible forward David Lewandowski was named to Germany’s preliminary roster for the 2025 World Junior Hockey Championship on Friday. The 6-foot-2 import is second on the team in rookie scoring with seven goals, seven assists, and 14 points in 19 games. Lewandowski is also tied for third on the team in +/- at +13 alongside rookie defenceman Brayden Klimpke.
Columbus Blue Jackets draft pick Evan Gardner is first amongst WHL goalies in save percentage (.917) and second in goals against average (2.55). Gardner is 13-5-1-0 in his second with the Blue and Gold.
