Tonight
The Saskatoon Blades (17-6-1-1) welcome the Red Deer Rebels (13-10-1-2) to SaskTel Centre for the third game of their four-game home-stand.
Winners of three straight and six of their last seven games, Saskatoon found themselves back in this week’s CHL Top 10 rankings. The Blades walked away with four points last weekend with a 4-1 victory Friday against the Lethbridge Hurricanes and a 4-3 shootout win against the Swift Current Broncos.
Tonight’s the second of four meetings between the Blades and Rebels with Red Deer up 1-0 in the season series. Last time these two squared off was October 19 at the Peavey Mart Centrium in Red Deer where the Blades fell short 2-1. The Blades own first place in the Eastern Conference with 36 points, five more than the second place Medicine Hat Tigers with two games in-hand.
Who to Watch
20-year-old sniper Brandon Lisowsky enters tonight on a three-game point streak (2G, 2A) and one point shy of 250 in his WHL career. The Port Coquitlam, BC product boasts 133 goals and 116 assists in 246 career games, all with Saskatoon. Lisowsky is tied for eighth place alongside legend Bernie Federko on the Blades’ all-time goal-scoring list. In 19 games this year, Lisowsky has a dozen goals and assists.
Alternate captain Tyler Parr scored the shootout winner Saturday against the Broncos. The La Salle, MB product was the only player to find the back of the net in the shootout for either team, making him 1/2 in his career. The right-handed forward is tied for third on the team in scoring alongside Lisowsky with ten goals and 14 assists in 23 games.
NHL draft-eligible forward David Lewandowski had a pair of goals in Saturday’s win against Swift Current. The German import has seven goals, seven assists, 14 points, a +12 rating, and four penalty minutes in 18 games.
