GAME 21 RECAP | Sidorov puts on show, Blades beat Broncos 4-1
Saskatoon, SK – Goalie Evan Gardner held down the fort in the Saskatoon Blades 4-1 win Saturday at SaskTel Centre against the Swift Current Broncos.
The rookie netminder from Lake Country, BC stopped 26 shots en route to his fourth win of the season, now owning a .924 save-percentage and 2.18 goals-against-average.
NHL drafted forwards Egor Sidorov and Brandon Lisowsky both picked up goals on the evening. Property of the Anaheim Ducks, Sidorov leads the Blades in goals (20) and powerplay goals (9) in 19 games this season, sitting at 29 points. A Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick, Lisowsky has four goals in his last five games, sitting at 25 points (13G, 12A) in 21 games after a three-point performance.
The Blades remain first in the Eastern Conference with a 15-6-0-0 record (30 points), and improve to 8-1-0-0 on home ice.
For a second consecutive night neither team found the back of the net after 20 minutes of play at SaskTel Centre.
5-foot-9 sniper Brandon Lisowsky put the Blades on the board first 8:23 into the middle frame. The Port Coquitlam, BC product took a feed from captain Trevor Wong leaving no doubt for the elite shooter’s 13th goal of the year.

Blades forward Egor Sidorov dazzled the highlight reel to make it 2-0 Saskatoon. The Anaheim Ducks draft pick hit the spin-o-rama inside the Broncos zone before switching to the forehand in tight for goal 19 on the year. Within 58 seconds, the Blades’ stars had taken over the game.

Broncos 20-year-old defenceman Ryan McCleary brought his team within one just over two minutes later. The Swift Current, SK native has four points in 13 games this season. The Blades led 2-1 heading into the final 20.
Sidorov’s second goal of the night was almost as impressive as the first, lifting a backhand over the shoulder of goalie Joey Rocha.

Captain Trevor Wong sealed the game with an empty-netter to make it 4-1 Blades. The 20-year-old center leads the Blades in points with 36 (6G, 30A) thanks to his three-point performance.
What’s Next?
The Blades head out west for their first U.S. road trip since 2019. Fans will be able to see the Blue and Gold in action at SaskTel Centre on Dec. 8th for Pride Night against the Red Deer Rebels.
Next order of business is the Wenatchee Wild Tuesday for a 7:00pm puck drop.
