GAME 11 PREVIEW | Blades get second crack at Warriors in Moose Jaw
Key Players, Notable Stats, How to Watch and More
It’s a chance at redemption tonight for the Saskatoon Blades (7-3-0-0) when they visit Temple Gardens Centre for the second half of a weekend home-and-home series against the Moose Jaw Warriors (5-4-1-0).
The Blades hope for a better result in the second game of a three-in-three weekend. The Blades dropped last night’s game at home against Moose Jaw 6-2. Warriors captain Lynden Lakovic scored a pair of goals in the opening frame and never looked back. Blades Head Coach Dan DaSilva says the whole team needs a better effort tonight on the road.
“I thought our guys pushed back in the second period, though,” said DaSilva, “Their goalie made some saves, but in the end we didn’t deserve to win that hockey game.”
After tonight’s 6:00pm puck drop, Saskatoon play their third game in as many nights at home inside SaskTel Centre on Sunday against the Eastern Conference’s top Edmonton Oil Kings.
The good guys
6-foot-1 defenceman Jack Kachkowski got the monkey off his back last night against the Warriors after he scored his first goal of the campaign. The former Medicine Hat Tiger has a goal and an assist in ten games this season. Forward Zach Olsen extended his point streak to three games with an assist in the loss. With a pair of goals and assists on his current streak, Olsen sits at six points (4G, 2A) in ten games.
The Opposition
Lakovic continues to be a beast against the Blades. The Washington Capitals prospect has five goals in his last four meetings against Saskatoon, and seven in his last six counting the 2024 Western Hockey League (WHL) playoffs. The 6-foot-4 winger has seven goals and two assists in eight games. Forward Landen McFadden leads the club in points with 11 (3G, 8A). Last night came after back-to-back losses for Moose Jaw, getting outscored 11-6 in two games.
